SENIORS
Seniors model fashions

Easy Fashions makes it
easy for the residents of
Glebe Centre to stay in
style. Twice a year for the
past six years Easy Fashions
has brought its travelling
collection to the centre.
It's fun and helps seniors
who may not be mobile enough
to go out shopping for
clothes.
Everything from nightwear
to elegant outfits for the
mother or grandmother of the
bride was modelled with
verve by the seniors on Friday,
May 9.
Fresh and crisp
Estelle Barter looked
fresh and crisp in a dress
with blue and white mitred
stripes, accented with a red
collar and belt. Mrs.
Penney modelled a cool looking
dress with yellow, grey
and white stripes. Blue and
white polka dots, popular
again this spring, looked
lively and up-to-the-minute.
Eileen Elliot was very
fashionable in a bright,
clear yellow dress with
flanged shoulders.
Most dresses featured
bracelet-length sleeves or
came with a little cover-up
jacket. The outfits were
accessorized with beads and
earrings in complementary
colours.
The charming men who
bravely volunteered to model
were perfectly dressed for
sports or casual events in
navy, burgundy and grey
jogging suits. They also
showed comfortable classic
sweaters co-ordinated with
slacks in greys and blue/
grey combinations.
The clothing was chosen to
combine flattering lines,
easy-care fabrics and fashionable
design.
Mrs. McPhee accompanied
the modelling with suitable
and expert piano music, a
nice change from the recorded
music most often used at
fashion shows.

lounge wear, ranging from a
simple terrycloth bathrobe
to an exotic pink and periwinkle
tropical print coverup
All of the garments were
available after the show,
along with the jewellery and
life's necessities like pantyhose.
Thank you to Morrison's Glebe
Beauty Salon who donated their
services and to Mrs. Olie Goods,
Volunteer Coordinator, who organized
the event.
Centre to host garden party

The theme of this year's
Spring Garden Party at the
Glebe Centre and Abbotsford
House is "Glebe Centre on
Parade".
"It's a chance for us to
show off a little by displaying
some of the many
social, recreational and educational
programs we offer
at the seniors' centre and
residence," said Dorothy
Steele, co-ordinator of this
year's event.
The garden party will be
held at Glebe Centre, 950
Bank Street on Thursday,
June 26, from 1:30 p.m. to
4 p.m.
A display and sale of
handicrafts and artwork produced
over the past year by
Abbotsford members, demonstrations
of activities such
georffette
as copper enamelling, billiards
and pottery, as well
as a fashion show, will be
among the highlights of the
day.
Tea and baked goods will
be served and entertainment
by choirs, bellringers and
individual musicians will
continue throughout the afternoon.
The architectural designs
for the proposed Elderly
Persons' Centre and 114-bed
nursing home will be on view
in the main lobby of the
residence.
A money bowl will be available
to collect funds for
these building projects.
"We are very excited by
the future plans for Glebe
Centre and we hope others
will come and share some of
this excitement with us,"
said Mrs. Steele.
