Fundraising The Group continues to benefit from the overwhelming generosity of the local community. Fundraising is conducted in accordance with the Fundraising Appeals Act 1998. This year $361,000 was raised from donations, bequests, raffles and special events. All donations of $2 or more are tax deductible and receipts are issued promptly. Fundraising is vital in making a difference to the care and comfort of patients, residents and clients. A special project this year was the ‘Let’s add colour to Kids Ward’ promotion. Several local primary schools participated raising over $2,000 towards painted murals in the Paediatric Ward. Bequests We are grateful to Mr Len Colliver of Bunyip and Ms Kathleen Hurst of Yarragon for making provision for WGHG in their Will. Bequests were received from their estates this year. The ongoing benefit from the estate of the late Mr Charles Haworth provided $41,000 this year. The Estate of William Payne, through the Estate’s trust provided $7,000. All enquiries are treated with the strictest confidence. Murray to Moyne Cycle Relay The Group entered the Murray to Moyne Cycle relay for the tenth consecutive year. Each year riders and support crew raise funds for a specific area of the Group. This year money was raised for the Community Services Division. The relay goes from Echuca to Port Fairy, a distance of 520 kms. The riders ride in relay and must complete the event in 24 hours. A support crew of drivers, cooks and masseurs ably supports the riders. The ride raised $22,000 through sponsorship, donations and fundraising events, taking the total tally to over $200,000 since participating in the event. A special function was held in June to celebrate the 10 years of the ride’s success. Over 70 participants and riders gathered to share stories and reminisce about their Murray to Moyne experiences. Public Relations The Group continues to enjoy wonderful community support from the people of West Gippsland and beyond. The community help us in so many vital ways, for example, financially, with in-kind gifts, by providing assistance and offering to become volunteers. The Group actively promotes its services through the local media who give us great support. Groups are welcome to tour WGHG facilities. WGHG guest speakers are regularly asked to speak at community meetings. The public is invited to special occasions such as the Annual General Meeting and official openings. Outlook, a newsletter for supporters, donors and interested Fundraising Highlights: ● bequests to the Group totalled $107,000 ● the sale of daffodil bulbs raised $13,500 thanks to the generosity of Blyth Bros who have supplied the daffodils for over 11 years now ● the Murray to Moyne cycle relay raised $22,000. A range of equipment was purchased for the Community Services division with the proceeds ● thanks to the generosity of local farmers, the annual Calf Appeal Day raised $2,800 ● the ‘Let’s add colour to kid’s ward’ primary school fundraising campaign raised over $2,000 community members is published regularly throughout the year. The Annual Report and the Quality of Care report are also available to the public. The Group entered the Murray<br />

to Moyne Cycle relay <strong>for</strong> the tenth<br />
