During part load oper<strong>at</strong>ion the reduction r<strong>at</strong>io of the w<strong>at</strong>er flow r<strong>at</strong>e must not exceed 1:5 to<br />

avoid clogging, whereas it is even possible to switch off the fan when running <strong>at</strong> about 10%<br />

cooling load. (Henning, 2004)<br />

2.8 Maintenance<br />

The key requirements for maintaining system efficiency are adequ<strong>at</strong>e control of the<br />

recalcul<strong>at</strong>ing w<strong>at</strong>er quality <strong>and</strong> a programme of maintenance to keep the equipment clean<br />

<strong>and</strong> in good condition.<br />

Maintenance requirements are given in manufacturer’s instructions or in Guidelines e.g.<br />

EUROVENT 9/5 (2002) or VDMA 24649 (2005).<br />

A typical mechanical maintenance schedule is shown in Table 2-1<br />
