4 Experience report summer 2010<br />

The following section contains monitoring results of the MA34 solar cooling system for<br />

August <strong>and</strong> September 2010 with a focus on the variable speed control mode of the he<strong>at</strong><br />

rejection fans.<br />

The monitoring evalu<strong>at</strong>ion of August showed th<strong>at</strong> the he<strong>at</strong> rejection oper<strong>at</strong>ed permanently,<br />

even when the rest of the plant wasn´t in oper<strong>at</strong>ion (see Figure 9). Th<strong>at</strong> was caused by an<br />

error set <strong>at</strong> the adsorption chiller control panel, which was “manual” instead of “autom<strong>at</strong>ic”.<br />

This error was corrected <strong>at</strong> the 14 th of August 2010; the resulting decrease of electricity<br />

dem<strong>and</strong> is shown in Figure 9. Furthermore, the COP el increases significantly from th<strong>at</strong> d<strong>at</strong>e<br />

on (see Figure 10) although the he<strong>at</strong> rejection is oper<strong>at</strong>ing with maximum capacity (ca.<br />

650 W).<br />
