Description of the applic<strong>at</strong>ion<br />

The MA34 solar cooling system was put up in April 2009. It consists of an Adsorption chiller<br />

with dry cooling tower to cool the office building with a peak cooling load of 7.5 kW. The<br />

hybrid cooling tower <strong>and</strong> the solar collectors are placed on the fl<strong>at</strong> roof of the building.<br />

General description of the system<br />

Main item of the plant is an adsorption chiller with a nominal cooling capacity of 7.5 KW, type<br />

SOL ACS 08. The he<strong>at</strong> rejection is done by a dry cooling tower, type RCS 08, with EC-fan<br />

technology <strong>and</strong> an additional fresh w<strong>at</strong>er spraying system. The drive he<strong>at</strong> for the chiller is<br />

gener<strong>at</strong>ed by 12 universal panel collectors with a total gross surface of 32.40 m ². The fl<strong>at</strong>pl<strong>at</strong>e<br />

collectors are installed in approxim<strong>at</strong>ely 40 ° inclin<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>and</strong> south orient<strong>at</strong>ion on an<br />

existing roof. In the concept no rehe<strong>at</strong>ing is intended by other boilers. The solar he<strong>at</strong> is<br />

stored in a 2000 l solar buffer - the he<strong>at</strong> transfer from the primary to the secondary solar<br />

cycle is made by a layer loading unit. In the cooling mode the chilled w<strong>at</strong>er is stored in a<br />

w<strong>at</strong>er buffer with the capacity of 800 l. Depending on the cooling requirement of the different<br />

rooms the available fan coils are supplied by the w<strong>at</strong>er tank. In winter mode the hydraulic<br />

interconnecting makes a solar thermal support for he<strong>at</strong>ing purposes of the areas possible.<br />
