Application for Resource Consent
under s88 of the Resource Management Act
2. Resource Consents Sought:
Resource consent is sought to use and occupy space in the coastal marine area for
conventional mussel farming, spat catching and the farming of oysters and scallops, and
associated structures, and to undertake associated discharges to water and disturbance of
and deposition on the seabed.
The area that the application relates to is a one hectare extension to an existing marine farm
in the Coromandel area. The location is identified and activities discussed in more detail in
the attached Assessment of Environmental Effects (AEE).
No other resource consents are required for the proposed activity.
The term of the consent sought is for approximately 13 years (ie to be consistent with the
term of the neighbouring consented farm).
3. Assessment of Environmental Effects
Attached to this application, is an AEE that corresponds with the scale and significance of the
effects of the proposed activity and which is set out in accordance with Schedule 4 of the
RMA. In addition the report: Taylor, D., Clark, D., Keeley, N., Goodwin, E., 2012. Assessment
of Benthic and Water Column Effects from Inshore Coromandel Mussel Farms; Prepared for a
Collective of Coromandel Mussel Farmers. Cawthron Institute, is relied on in support of this
application.
