• The successful hosting of the 2010 World Cup Soccer event in South Africa,
recent freight handling upgrades, and an improved regulatory and oversight
framework, mean that the significant airport developments in South Africa have
been completed for the foreseeable future. In 2009/10 the ten most important
airports in South Africa (excluding Lanseria International Airport) had 448 571
