New Grinding and Milling Oil for all Gearbox Machining
Operations
With ECOCUT HFN 13 LE-UNI, FUCHS has developed a new highperformance
grinding and milling oil which is approved by leading
grinding machine manufacturers. The special advantage of this oil: It
is suitable for all machining processes in gearbox and bearing
manufacturing. The latest approval has been issued by the globallyactive
machine and tool manufacturer KAPP in Coburg/Germany.
This new product has also been successfully used in the
manufacturing of wind turbine gearboxes.
The low-emission and low-evaporation, high-tech product ECOCUT HFN
13 LE-UNI is based on low-aromatic hydrocracked oils. Prior to being
awarded the KAPP approval, the oil had to pass stringent grinding tests as
well as proving its suitability in hydraulic systems. With a performance
score of 129 %, ECOCUT HFN 13 LE-UNI fulfilled all demands and
proved that it is also universally suitable for all machining operations using
geometrically-defined cutting edges. This characteristic is of particular
importance to gearbox manufacturing because all machining operations
can now be performed with just one oil.
This simplifies the stock-keeping of oils and eliminates the danger of the
wrong oil being used. This new low-viscosity oil with its very low
evaporation and oil misting characteristics has replaced high-viscosity
milling and shaping oils. Apart from improved cooling at equivalent EP and
anti-wear performance, the user also benefits from lower drag-out losses
on components and chips – a cost saving aspect not only from the chip
disposal point of view. Subsequent component cleaning lines get less
polluted.
These were all decisive arguments for the machine manufacturers
GLEASON PFAUTER, HÖFLER, JUNKER, KAPP, KLINGELNBERG,
LIEBHERR and NILES who all added ECOCUT HFN 13 LE-UNI to their
lists of recommended metalworking oils.

Also leading gear and gearbox manufacturers in the wind-power sector
such as FLENDER, ZAHNRADFABRIK PRITZWALK and PRICOGEAR
are impressed by ECOCUT HFN 13-UNI. “We have been using ECOCUT
HFN 13-UNI since June 2007 in our HÖFLER, Type Rapid 900 section
grinding machines with outstanding success” says Bernd Kontak, the
Technical Head of Zahnradfabrik Pritzwalk. “No scorching even in our
difficult production conditions! Furthermore, oil misting has been reduced
and that not only benefits consumption but also the environmental
conditions in our machining shops”.
