PALM BEACH COUNTY TURNPIKE ASPHALT MAINTENANCE – BOYNTON BEACH BOULEVARD (MILEPOST 86) • Southbound Turnpike exit and entrance ramps at Boynton Beach Boulevard – Closed between 9 p.m. Sunday, April 21, and 5 a.m. Monday, April 22. o DETOUR: Southbound Turnpike traffic should exit at Lake Worth Road (Exit 93), go west to U.S. 441 and then south to Boynton Beach Boulevard. Traffic on Boynton Beach Boulevard should head west to U.S. 441, south to Atlantic Avenue and then east to the Turnpike on-ramp. o It may be necessary to close the ramps Monday night, should weather or other conditions delay the work Sunday night. TURNPIKE MILLING AND RESURFACING – 45TH STREET (MILEPOSTS 102-104) • One of two Turnpike lanes in each direction may be closed in the vicinity of 45th Street, between mileposts 102 and 104, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday, April 21, through Thursday, April 25. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The $1.8 million project entails milling, resurfacing and safety upgrades on the Turnpike between Milepost 102.5 and Milepost 103.7. Work also includes guardrail resetting, erosion control, pipe desilting, slope repair, bridge deck spall repairs and expansion joint replacement. It is anticipated the project will be completed in the summer of 2013. TURNPIKE BRIDGE REPLACEMENT – PGA BOULEVARD (MILEPOST 109) • One of two Turnpike lanes in each direction may be closed as needed in the vicinity of PGA Boulevard between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday, April 21, through Thursday, April 25. o Traffic on the Turnpike’s northbound entrance ramp from PGA Boulevard also may be stopped for a few minutes at a time between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Turnpike’s PGA Boulevard ramp bridge is being replaced with a higher bridge to provide additional clearance for tall vehicles. Construction began in August 2012. It is anticipated the project will be completed in the fall of 2013. Approximate cost: $6.2 million. TURNPIKE BRIDGE REPLACEMENT & INTERCHANGE IMPROVEMENTS – INDIANTOWN ROAD (MILEPOST 116) • One of two Turnpike lanes in each direction may be closed as needed in the vicinity of Indiantown Road from 9 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Sunday, April 21, through Thursday, April 25. o Traffic on the Turnpike’s northbound exit ramp to Indiantown Road also may be stopped for a few minutes at a time between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Turnpike’s Indiantown Road ramp bridge is being replaced with a higher bridge to provide additional clearance for tall vehicles. It is anticipated the project will be completed in May 2013. Approximate cost: $4.7 2
million. Work on an interchange improvements project began in April and is anticipated to continue through late fall of 2013. The northbound Turnpike exit ramp to Indiantown Road will be reconstructed and an additional left-turn lane will be constructed, for traffic exiting the ramp toll plaza and headed east. Approximate cost: $1.8 million. PALM BEACH COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS PROJECTS (MILEPOSTS 73-78 and 106) • One or two Turnpike lanes in each direction will be closed at various locations from Southeast 18th Street (Milepost 73) to Yamato Road (Milepost 78) from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, April 21, through Thursday, April 25, as Palm Beach County installs fiber optic cable on its bridges. At least one lane in each direction will remain open. • One of two lanes on the Turnpike’s exit ramp to S.R. 710 (Exit 107), west of the toll plaza, will remain closed 24/7 through May 31 as part of a county project to extend Jog Road north to North Lake Boulevard. • All Turnpike ramps at S.R. 710 will be closed from 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, to 5 a.m. Wednesday, April 24. Should inclement weather interfere with the work on Tuesday night, the interchange closure will be rescheduled for Wednesday night or Thursday night, April 25. o DETOUR: Motorists should use the PGA Boulevard interchange as an alternate. MIAMI-DADE COUNTY TURNPIKE RAMP CONSTRUCTION, BRIDGE WIDENING AND ROAD RESURFACING (MILEPOSTS 9-20) • One or two southbound Turnpike lanes may be closed between Kendall Drive and Coral Reef Drive/Southwest 152nd Street (Exit 16) from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, April 21, through Thursday, April 25. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Work began in October 2011 to construct a new connector ramp for southbound S.R. 874 traffic headed to the southbound Turnpike and Southwest 152nd Street/Coral Reef Drive. The southbound Turnpike bridge over the CSX railroad, located north of Southwest 152nd Street, will be widened from two to three lanes and the bridge handrails will be replaced. Work also includes removing and replacing the top layer of asphalt pavement on the Turnpike in the vicinity of Allapattah Road and between the Southwest 152nd Street and Kendall Drive interchanges. Construction is anticipated to continue through the summer of 2013. Approximate cost: $12.3 million. TURNPIKE INTERCHANGE IMPROVEMENTS AT NORTHWEST 12TH STREET (MILEPOST 27) • No lane closures this week. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The southbound exit ramp to Northwest 12th Street will be widened to accommodate a second right-turn lane to westbound Northwest 12th Street. Work also includes asphalt milling and resurfacing, traffic signal improvements, drainage, roadway lighting and pavement markings. Construction began in November 2012 and will be completed in the fall of 2013. Approximate cost: $547,260. 3
