general information<br />

ArT SChOOl POliCieS<br />

Registrations are valid with full payment. Register up<br />

to three days before class by phone, walk-in or mail<br />

(not by voice mail). Cash (not by mail), checks, VISA,<br />

MasterCard, and American Express are accepted.<br />

Registration confirmations are issued via email upon<br />

request. Class fees are not prorated.<br />

Class Cancellations due to wea<strong>the</strong>r or faculty illness<br />

will be rescheduled based on classroom and staff<br />

availability, but are not guaranteed. Under-enrolled<br />

classes will be cancelled three business days prior to<br />

first day <strong>of</strong> class.<br />

refunds are not given after <strong>the</strong> second class. A 50%<br />

charge will be withheld for cancellations made within<br />

four days prior to <strong>the</strong> start date <strong>of</strong> class.<br />

General Open Studio is free <strong>of</strong> charge and open to all<br />

adult students enrolled in <strong>the</strong> current class. (See page<br />

7 for open ceramics studio fees.)<br />

Pre-College Portfolio Program is a three-year<br />

subsidized program designed to streng<strong>the</strong>n gifted high<br />

school freshmen’s visual art skills for college entrance.<br />

Applications are due in February 2012; call for details.<br />

Student <strong>Art</strong>work not picked up within two weeks <strong>of</strong><br />

your own lock for $10/$13 per session or $30/$40 per<br />

year. The <strong>FIA</strong> is not responsible for items lost or stolen<br />

from lockers, galleries or studios. Lockers may not be<br />

rented by phone.<br />

Applications are available July 25 and must be<br />

returned by August 26. Forms are available on a<br />

walk-in basis only in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Art</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice or at<br />

<strong>the</strong> <strong>FIA</strong> front desk. To be eligible, applicants must<br />

disclose <strong>the</strong>ir household income on <strong>the</strong> application.<br />

If granted, scholarship co-pay is required prior to<br />

<strong>the</strong> first class meeting. Late co-payments may forfeit<br />

<strong>the</strong> scholarship. Individuals may be awarded three<br />

scholarships in a two-year period <strong>of</strong> time, although<br />

<strong>the</strong> <strong>FIA</strong> may waive this restriction for designated<br />

programs. Scholarships are limited to two per<br />

fabrics and wearable art.<br />

Alice Foster-stocum has<br />

She earned a degree at<br />

Michigan State University<br />

and studied under several<br />

renowned fiber artists. She<br />

has exhibited her work at<br />

numerous art venues.<br />

Connie Spooner has a<br />

mark, baste, and hand quilt lines<br />

and curves. Return to <strong>the</strong> basics<br />

<strong>of</strong> hand stitching by creating<br />

a small 10 inch fea<strong>the</strong>r wreath<br />

block appropriate for a pillow or<br />

wall hanging. Bring a sewing kit,<br />

thimble that fits you, and a sack<br />
