Arylation<br />
* C-Phenylation Phenylation of carbanions is possible with this reagent, especially with the substrates:<br />
1,3-dicarbonyl compounds, -cyano ketones, aromatic ketones, acetone enolates and nitronate<br />
ions. JOC 1964, 29, 2108<br />
* N-Phenylation Phenylation occurs on hydroxamic acid derivatives, imides, sulfonamides, and certain<br />
other nitrogen heterocycles. Reaction with aromatic and aliphatic amines requires a CuI catalyst.<br />
Heteroatom phenylation on N requires Pd(0) or Cu (I) catalysis. SL 2000, 1022<br />
* O-Phenylation Oxygen anions and nucleophiles are readily phenylated, including alkoxides;<br />
phenoxides; carboxylates; sulfonates; N-oxides; oximes; hydroxylamines and nitroso compounds.<br />
