Cyclopropanation<br />
* Cyclopropanation Reaction of diethylzinc with diiodomethane produces ICH2ZnEt or (ICH2 ) 2Zn insitu<br />
which are excellent cyclopropanation reagents (Furukawa method). Electron rich alkenes give the<br />
best results and the presence of air accelerates the reaction and improves the yields. BSJ 1972,<br />

* Nucleophilic addition/ carbonyl to alcohol Addition of diethyl zinc to aldehydes and ketones is<br />
catalysed by aminoalcohols. (-)-3-Exo-(dimethylamino)isoborneol shows a particularly high catalytic<br />
activity -with 2 mol % of this catalyst, the addition of diethylzinc to benzaldehyde in toluene is<br />
