DVAD Series
The economical DVAD Series Digital Video Array is built for the
security industry's most demanding digital video storage
applications, providing increased capacity, flexibility,
and reliability. This easy to install and maintain, compact 1U high
rack mountable unit can accommodate up to 4 hard disk drives
per chassis.

Functions
Using a JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Disks) configuration with
300 GB disk drives, this unit can provide up to 1.2 TB of storage
per box. In addition, up to 7 DVAD disk arrays can easily be
grouped together, satisfying storage requirements.
The DVAD also provides real time drive activity and status
indicators visible on the front panel. When the hard disk drive
controller detects a hard disk failure or fault condition,
the status indicators change states to indicate the fault
condition. A relay output is also provided on the rear panel of the
chassis, which can be interfaced to an alarm console for
activation upon a fault condition. The standard 3 years warranty
covers the disk array and the hard disk drives.

DVAS Series
The DVAS Series Digital Video Array is built for the security
industry's most demanding digital video storage applications,
providing high capacity, unlimited flexibility, and unmatched
reliability. This compact 3-U high, rack mountable unit, can
accommodate 14 hot-swappable disk drives. Using the standard
RAID 5 configuration and 300 GB disk drives, this unit provides
up to 3.9 terabytes of protected storage. By simply using the
additional host port, this massive storage can accommodate two
digital video recorders, saving rack space and money.
High performance and reliability are obtained by using the latest
advancements in RAID disk drive technology.

Functions
This unit has a mid-plane design, eliminating the problems
associated with cable interconnects. It also uses electronic
soft-start, making hot-swappable ATA drives very reliable.
In the event of a failure, the DVAS sounds an audible alarm and
notify a user via the Bosch DVR interface. (See specific Bosch
DVR features.)
The DVAS's hard disk, power supply, and controller board are
modular components. This significantly improves the
serviceability of the unit, and minimizes downtime. The data on
the drives is RAID 5 protected, thus all data is protected,
even if a hard drive fails completely. Additionally, because the
drives are hot swappable, the failed drive can easily be replaced,
without cycling power or interrupting recording and data access.
For the ultimate protection, the drives can be configured as
hot-spares, put on standby to automatically rebuild the data from
a failed drive. This feature minimizes the time that the array would
be functioning without RAID protection.
Other powerful features include real-time drive activity and
status indicators, intelligent failure monitoring, web-based
graphical user interface (GUI) with quick configuration page,
and system security password. The standard Bosch three years
warranty covers the disk array and hard drives.

Divar - Digital Video Recorder
The Bosch Divar digital versatile recorder series are extremely
compact, low profile units that combine advanced digital
recording and multiplexing, not only saving space, but ensuring
integrated functionality. The Divar has been designed with both
operator and installer in mind, by making the unit easy to use and
install, and maintenance free. The Divar allows simultaneous
recording and playback of video images. “Overwrite protection”
of marked video clips prevents the loss of vital material.
The images per second (IPS) record rate and image quality are
selectable for each connected camera. This makes it possible to
prioritize recording between high-risk areas and low risk areas.
By having a higher refresh rate only for critical or high-risk
security areas, considerable hard disk space can be saved.
Recording rates of 50 IPS (PAL) or 60 IPS (NTSC) are
guaranteed, without the need for synchronization.
As well as control of external alarm inputs, the Divar's motion
detector triggers an alarm when movement in a user-definable
area of the image is detected.
Smart motion search can be used for easy retrieval of motion
that has taken place within a user-specified part of the image
during a specified time-span.
The Divar is expandable with an optional keyboard, allowing
AutoDome control as well as enhanced playback control.
Where video is required for evidence of an incident, it is simple
to archive the video with a dedicated PC player for playback of
the secure video files to a DVD or CD with the internal or
external DVD writer. The Divar uses video authentication that can
automatically detect any alteration of the recorded video.
For easy installation, a “Quick install” feature is included.
Additionally, on-screen menus are provided in several languages
and context sensitive help is always available by just pushing the
yellow button. A configuration tool is supplied to simplify setting
up a system using a PC. Because Divar is available with Bilinx,
functions usually requiring hands-on access to a camera now
use the video cable to communicate with Bilinx cameras.
Owing to its high degree of integrated functionality, the Divar
can be the central element in a self-contained security system
with up to 256 cameras. Because the Divar is fully compatible
with any standard 10/100 Base-T network, it is ideal for
distributed security surveillance systems.
An optional ATM/POS bridge enables financial transaction
details to be recorded together with video. This makes the Divar
suitable for use at cash dispensers, check out desks and other
similar applications where it is sometimes necessary to verify or
identify what happened during a particular transaction.

Full control is also possible when using the user-friendly Control
Center software that allows remote viewing of live and recorded
video from multiple Divars at the same time. This makes it ideal
for multiple location systems such as chains of shops or fast
food outlets. Using Internet Explorer, the Divar can also be
accessed to view live action or playback archived event without
special software software or tools.

can be connected to expand the storage capacity. It is even

Extending the functionality of a single Divar for active
observation. This Divar system uses a universal keyboard for
controlling fixed and AutoDome or PTZ cameras. It has a main
monitor plus spot monitor, alarm I/O (for external alarms and
sensors), a storage array and a PC with Control Center
software. A DVD writer is used for making archives. An ATM/
POS bridge can be used to connect to an ATM or point-of-sale
machine.

MEDIUM LOCALIZED SYSTEM
Using the Bosch Video Manager to build up CCTV recording
system. Up to 16 Divar units with storage arrays for longer
archive are managed by Video Manager. There can be two
monitor locations, each with its own keyboard and alarm monitor.
The alarm I/O is linked to external alarms. An ATM/POS bridge
can be used to connect to an ATM or point-of-sale machine.

Divar 2 - external CD/DVD writer
Where video is required for evidence of an incident, the Divar
external DVD writer is the fastest and easiest way to archive
recordings on high-capacity optical media. The Divar external
DVD writer makes creating an archive simple and very user
friendly. After selecting recordings, archiving is fully automatic
and carried out without the need for a PC. Multiple archives can
be written to a single disk. The writer is compatible with industry
standard CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+R or DVD+RW format discs,
and allows multiple archives to be recorded on a single disc.
Thanks to fast writing speeds, the Divar external DVD writer is
one of the fastest dedicated writers for digital video recorders.
Together with the archived video, a dedicated PC player is
written to the inserted medium for playback of the secure video
files on any PC. The dedicated PC player also has the ability to
authenticate the archived images. Installation of the external
DVD writer is very easy. Simply connect the writer to the SCSI
port of the Divar, power it on and start archiving.

Divar - Software Development Kit
(SDK) - EMEA
The Divar Software Development Kit (SDK) is a fully supported
set of libraries, documentation and samples targeted at
PC-based business application software that communicates
with and controls Bosch Divar digital video recorders.
The SDK enables the developer to create an intelligent front-end
to Divars. It is robust, and in widespread use in the field by
System Integrators as well as within Bosch's own products.
The Divar Digital Versatile Recorder and the Divar Control
Center, which incorporates multi-user and multi-Divar support,
solve the majority of deployment scenarios. Use the SDK to
create customized solutions for unique, specific problems.
The Divar SDK raises surveillance productivity greatly by offering
simultaneous multiple Divar login and live video display, allowing
multiple cameras, attached to multiple DVRs, to be tracked
seamlessly.
Playback controls include direction, speed, pause, single step,
and time positioning, again improving productivity as well as
security since there is no need for physical access to the DVR.
The SDK allows search for input and motion alarms recorded by
the Divar, as well as Smart Motion Search, for remote
identification of key events and automatic retrieval of the
associated video.
In Point of Sale (POS) and Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) it
is common to have the local system integrated with the
surveillance and security system. The SDK enables POS and
ATM text search, which is recorded along with the video. You
can search hours of video from different machines, branches,
regions, or even countries, specifying a name, credit card
number, transaction type, or amount, then display the
corresponding video. Use the SDK to export a clip to an AVI file,
or capture a single frame as a bitmap file for subsequent use.
The Divar SDK forms the heart of increasingly creative
customized surveillance solutions, embedded within the existing

ATM/POS Bridge
The ATM/POS bridge provides an interface between a digital
recorder (for example the Divar) and either Automatic Teller
Machines (ATM) or Point-of-Sale (POS) equipment such as
cash registers. This allows financial transaction data to be
recorded and linked to specific camera images. Up to 4 devices
may be connected to each ATM/POS bridge. Both single- and
multi-drop ATM networks are supported.
The bridge is easy to install. It communicates with the digital
recorder via a standard Ethernet cable, making it possible to use
it anywhere on a local area network. Configuration of the bridge
can be done by simply connecting a PC via a serial cable and
connecting with Windows HyperTerminal.
By using an ATM/POS bridge, a digital recorder can be easily
integrated into a wide range of critical banking and retail

DiBos digital recorder &
transmission System
DiBos is an integral part of the overall security solution, in a wide
range of applications. These applications include banks, retail
chains, railway stations, airports, city centers, industrial facilities,
public and corporate offices, and other indoor and outdoor
locations.
DiBos takes visual monitoring to a new level of effectiveness by
applying Bosch Security Systems' proven state of the art digital
recording and communications technology. The result is
unprecedented freedom and speed in retrieving vital images and
information sharing, to assess the situation and take appropriate
action.
DiBos gives authorized personnel fast, convenient access to the
information they need to carry out their responsibilities with
maximum effectiveness.
This scalable video surveillance and recording system offers
advanced features for viewing, with extremely flexible recording
and image access. Communication and access is via the users'
private or public network, interfacing to a variety of peripheral
devices and systems.
DiBos offers full control of camera selections, sequencing, and
viewing modes, for every situation.
The real power of DiBos is its' quick, convenient accessibility to
recorded images and information, around the clock, and on a
global basis to meet immediate demands.
The LTC 8016/90 Bilinx Data Interface Unit accepts biphase
output from the DiBos, allowing control and configuration of
Bosch Dinion and AutoDome cameras, using only the video
cable*.
*: Bosch LTC 8786/60 RS-232 to Biphase converter required.
DiBos allows automated response to specific situations and
events, so required actions can be initiated without human
intervention. Programmed actions may include transmission of
images to predefined recipients in case of an alarm, and
message transmission to security personnel or alarm monitoring
centers, in any predefined situation.
Cameras and viewing modes can be programmed or selected
manually, together with the exceptional In-window pan/tilt/zoom
functionality for each camera at local or remote facilities. Images
are displayed with date/time, location, zone, camera indications,
and status of connected devices such as detectors and sensors.

The DiBos has a serial port for connection to the alarm panel
and Allegiant matrixes. Existing Allegiant matrixes can then be
controlled via CCL commands.
Playback of recorded images is easy with the familiar tree
structure search and navigation functions. Accessing images is
possible locally or remotely, via a company network, or the
Internet. Local and Remote viewing has the capability to select
multiple views from any or all of up to 32 cameras.
The DiBos has the ability to receive JPEG images from a variety
of manufactures' network cameras. These cameras may be easily
added to a fully populated system, in a network environment.
Recording configurations may be set to archive images, just like
a standard camera. Various user levels are configurable, to allow
or restrict access to IP cameras or other functions.
Navigation of recorded video is made simple by easy to use
VCR-like buttons for playback functions. Fast, powerful image
search functions eliminate time-consuming manual searches of
physical media. These functions include Smart Search on image
changes, as well as searches on criteria, such as camera
number, recording date/time and optional ATM transaction data.
ATM data includes credit card, time, date, transacting number,
and eventually bank code, account number, or amount
withdrawn.
The unique scalable viewing capability of the Graphical User
Interface allows both live and archived images, from multiple
remote systems, to be viewed from the same remote PC,
or even other DiBos systems. With this powerful tool, security
managers can monitor and supervise various locations
simultaneously, with total flexibility in selection and viewing of live
and recorded images.
To ensure high security, all access is subject to appropriate user
authorization, with profiles assigned by the system administrator,
and database tracking of events (i.e., login, logoff, status
changes, image transmission, and system shutdown). Video
authentication is built in to assure that images on the DiBos are
not altered in any way.
The system's PC architecture allows standard network devices
to be connected and used transparently. A variety of network
storage devices such as external disk arrays, RAID and NAS
devices, and external disk drives may be used for exporting,
backup, or image sharing.
