program is the same student who participates in and completes the program…” Sec 49b (20 U.S.C. 199B (ii)) In an effort to comply with the Higher Education Opportunity Act, ensure the credibility of the ABA online course series, uphold the integrity of the final exam(s) and protect our students we are now utilizing Securexam Remote Proctor (SRP) for all final exams. For questions about final exams proctoring please contact abaproctor@fit.edu. Identity Verification- Students may be asked to verify their identity and/or unannounced, realtime identity checks conducted one or more times during the term. Final Grade: Your total earned points for online meeting attendance, ASR entry, test grades and final exam will be summed. Points for items submitted late will be deducted according to the rules outlined in this syllabus. Bonus points earned (attendance bonuses, on-time test bonus, Surveys) will also be summed and added to the total accumulated points. The resulting number will be divided by the maximum possible points (1000), to give a final percentage in the course. This course is graded pass/fail. Students are required to accumulate 800 total points and score a 70% on the final exam to pass the course. The Passing Criterion of 800 points INCLUDES points earned in the final. Please note that deduction of points earned in ANGEL for late entry of ASRs or late completion of tests is done by hand at the end of the term. If assignments are completed late the progress record in ANGEL may be incorrect until the grade book is updated to include these deductions. For the most accurate progress record students should indicate on their progress record all points earned AND any deductions that will be taken, according to the syllabus, for late assignments. Other Course Policies Course Materials/Videos- All course materials and videos are copyrighted by Jose Martinez- Diaz and should be used ONLY by registered students. Those who are not students of the FL Tech ABA program are prohibited from viewing unit videos or obtaining copies of course materials including, but not limited to, study guides, and PowerPoint Presentations. Students are prohibited from sharing or distributing course materials and videos with individuals not taking the course. Registered students will have access to course materials and videos during the term in which they are enrolled only. Course materials turn off the last day of the final exam for the term. After this date students will no longer have access to study guides, PowerPoint presentations and other course related documents. Students who would like to access the course videos after the course has ended for the purposes of studying for the BCBA or BCaBA exam may purchase a subscription to the course videos. FL Tech also offers a mock exam for a nominal fee to assist students prepare for the BCBA and BCaBA exams. Please contact abareg@fit.edu for more information about video subscriptions and mock exam availability. Failure Policy- Students who receive a grade “F” in a given course due to lack of points or a score less than 70% on the final exam will need to retake the course at their own expense. Students who do not obtain a passing grade in the course for any reason will not be permitted to proceed to the next course in the series until a grade of passing is earned in the previous course. University Policies Academic Honesty: All forms of academic dishonesty, including cheating, fabrication, facilitating academic dishonesty and plagiarism are subject to disciplinary action up to and including suspension or expulsion from the university. Periodic academic integrity checks will be conducted. Students suspected of academic dishonesty on a unit exam will receive a zero on that unit test and may face additional disciplinary action. Cheating in the online environment includes but is not limited to; giving or receiving information during an exam, using unauthorized material (like notes) during an exam, unauthorized dissemination or receipt of exams, exam materials, contents, or answer keys, taking an exam for another student or asking someone to take an exam for you. Withdrawal Policy: To withdraw from a course, the student must complete a withdrawal form within 6 weeks of the course start date. Failure to attend classes or verbal notification to instructors does not constitute an official withdrawal. Students who withdraw without filing the proper form will receive a failing grade of F. When a student drops a course on or before the last day to do so, as shown in the Academic Calendar, the course will not appear on the permanent academic record. After this date, a W will appear on the permanent record for each dropped course. Students withdrawing from a course will forfeit all registration and fees paid to the University for the course. Please note the ABA Online program academic calendar is different than the on-campus or the extended studies academic calendar. Students are encouraged to assess their own situation before the withdraw deadline and apply for a withdrawal from the course if they, for any reason will not be able to satisfactorily complete the course. Incomplete Policy: Incompletes will be considered on a very limited basis. An “I” is given when a course cannot be completed because of extraordinary circumstances beyond the student's control. An “I” indicates that course work is qualitatively satisfactory and there is reasonable expectancy that completion of the remaining work would result in a passing grade. The student must submit a signed letter to the ABA office officially requesting an Incomplete. In addition the student may be required to submit appropriate documentation to verify the life event that prohibits the on time completion of the course. Examples include a letter from a doctor, death certificate or obituary. The instructor (co-instructor) must provide a statement of the work to be completed to the head of the academic unit. Only those students who have a reasonable likelihood of passing the course based on an assessment of their grades by their co-instructor will be considered. Those students who are granted an incomplete must complete the work at the earliest possible time but prior to the beginning of the seventh week of the following term, unless an earlier deadline is established at the time the “I” is recorded and the student is notified of this fact. The “I” will automatically become an F in the seventh week unless an approved waiver has been filed with the Office of the Registrar. Students with incomplete status will only be permitted to take ONE form of the final exam. In addition, those requesting an incomplete may NOT begin the next course in the series until the previous course is completed. RULES/INFORMATION (NOT ALREADY COVERED) 1. You are responsible for anything that occurs during interactive videos and instructional Online Meetings, including announcements, changes of schedule, additions to or deletions from the study objectives, etc. If you miss an interactive video or instructional Online Meeting, it is your responsibility to find out what you missed. Never plead ignorance! The schedule listed on ANGEL is the correct schedule for this course. 2. If you miss one interactive video or instructional Online Meeting for any reason, you are responsible for getting all notes and completing all reading assignments prior to the test.
