Note: Students who miss in excess of 3 online meetings (earn less than 35 attendance points), regardless of the reason, will not pass the course!!! Holidays, Conferences and Online Meeting Cancelations: Online meetings will NOT be held on University approved holidays. Selected online meetings may also be canceled during certain conference events (FABA and ABAI). Those students assigned to sessions scheduled to take place on a University approved holiday or during a conference for which online meetings are cancelled, will automatically receive attendance points for the meeting even though their meeting did not take place. Additional online meeting makeup sessions will be offered during weeks when online meetings are canceled due to a holiday or conference. Students may opt to attend a make-up meeting without penalty (it will not count toward the limit of 2 make-up sessions) if they so choose, but are not required to do so. A list of additional makeup meetings will be made available to students prior to the canceled meeting(s) and students will not be required to reserve a “seat” to attend one of these special makeup meetings. In the unlikely event of an unscheduled cancelation of an online meeting, alternative options will be provided and/or attendance credit will be given. Online Meeting Attendance: Following each online meeting Co-instructors will enter attendance points for those students who attended the session into ANGEL. Students should also track their attendance points in the provided progress record. If attendance points are not entered by the co-instructor within 24hrs of the online meeting students should contact their coinstructor and copy caharris@fit.edu. Students who do not attend their regular online session will receive a zero for that meeting until they attend a make-up session. Questions about attendance should be directed to the student’s co-instructor. Tests: All tests and exams are "closed book.” Seven 100-point tests will be administered for a total of up to 700 points. You may not refer to any book, article, notes, email, or web page source. You may NOT refer to any course documents or videos including, but not limited to, those provided in ANGEL. You may NOT have anyone else helping you while taking a test or receive answers from another individual or provide answers to another student. You may use a basic calculator. Academic honesty is taken very seriously. Students found to engage in or suspected of engaging in inappropriate conduct risk failure in the course. Academic honesty checks will be conducted throughout the term and ALL student’s (not just those suspected of academic dishonesty) will be notified via email following integrity checks. Students are encouraged to view their grades in ANGEL after each integrity check notification is received. Each unit test should be taken in one, uninterrupted sitting. Students may not stop and restart a test. Time limits apply for all unit tests. See test instructions in ANGEL for more information on time limits. Students must be able to respond to test items accurately and with fluency (quickly). Once the time limit is exceeded the test will automatically be submitted even if the test is not completed. Tests will be based on the objectives covered by the interactive videos and instructional Online Meeting prior to the test and/or the readings, which are assigned prior to that time, but may include material covered earlier on. All tests are multiple-choice. Two alternate forms of each Unit Test are available starting the last Friday at 12:01am of a unit and through the following Tuesday at 11:59pm of the next Unit. Form A must be taken first and then form B may be taken if you so choose. You earn the better of the two grades. If taking both versions of the exam you must complete BOTH versions prior to the deadline. If form A is taken on-time, form B may NOT be taken late for any reason. Test Bonus: A 3-point bonus is awarded in each unit for taking Test A on time (Up to 24 bonus points). NOTE: NO TEST MAY BE COPIED AND/OR PRINTED IN ANY MANNER. NO TEST OR EXAMINATION (QUESTIONS/ANSWER-SHEET) IS EVER TO BE DUPLICATED OR REPRODUCED. Missed tests should be made up within one week of original end date for that test. If you must take a test late you do not need to ask for permission as long as it is taken within one week of the original test end date. For those taking a unit exam past the test deadline only ONE form of the test (form B) will be available. A second form of the test will not be available to those taking the test late. BONUS POINTS WILL NOT BE ASSIGNED TO TESTS TAKEN LATE. If due to an emergency or other unforeseeable circumstance you must take a test more than 1 week late points will be removed from the total possible score. That is, tests taken in excess of 1 week late will be docked 10 points per week past the 1 week deadline (e.g. if you take the test 2 weeks late the highest score you can receive is a 90). Late tests must be submitted by the unit 7 test deadline. The unit 7 test and final exams may NOT be taken late. Participation in Surveys: You will receive bonus points for every available survey that you participate in up to a maximum of 12 points. Final Exam: A comprehensive final examination worth 145 points must be completed at the conclusion of the course and will be proctored via the required Securexam Remote Proctor (SRP) device. Prior to taking the exam, students are required to take the Securexam practice test in angel to ensure the device is working properly and must read and follow all exam instructions. You must complete the entire final exam and score 70% or greater on the final exam in order to pass the course, even if you have earned 800 or more points before the final exam. You may take two forms (A and B) of the final exam if you so choose. If both versions of the final are taken, you earn the better of the two grades. Exam B is optional and may be taken: 1) if the student scores less than 70% on form A or 2) if after taking form A the student has not accumulated enough total points in the course. Form A must be taken first. If you choose to take both forms of the final exam you must wait 24 hours between taking form A and form B of the exam. If you choose to take both forms of the test BOTH must be taken before the test deadline. Exam dates are available in the session summary of this syllabus. Please note, the form A exam deadline is before the form B deadline. Students will NOT be permitted to take either form of the final exam late for any reason. Please note that illness, or technical difficulties will not result in an extension of the final exam deadlines. For this reason students are encouraged to NOT take their final exam on the last day it is offered. The exam(s) will be available on-line, but the Securexam Remote Proctor Device provided must be used. The device will authenticate the student’s identity and monitor both the student and the student’s computer for the entire testing period. More information and final exam instructions will be distributed at the end of the term. Please read all exam instructions thoroughly. Final Exams taken outside of the USA: All final exam criteria will be the same for students living outside the United States. However, International students may have to pay an import tax fee on the proctoring device or may be required to provide a web camera and microphone for proctoring of the final exams.
