via I-tunes U can be found under Course Materials on the ANGEL course site.
Students may also listen to the videos via the podcasts posted in the unit folders on the ANGEL
course site. Listening to the videos should be used to supplement and review the material and
should NOT be used in place of watching the instructional videos.
Acquisition ASRs: Acquisition ASRs are Active Student Responding exercises presented in
the video lectures. The instructor will ask a question and the student will have several seconds
to respond by writing their response on the ASR worksheet specific to that unit. The instructor
will also provide the correct answer. Answers to Acquisition ASRs should be typed into ANGEL
after watching the interactive videos and prior to your online session. For units that are two
weeks in length, ASR answers should be entered into ANGEL after watching ALL of the videos
and before the SECOND online meeting for the unit. ASRs must be completed in ANGEL
before access to the unit test will be permitted. Fifteen points per unit (105 total) may be earned
for completing all the Acquisition ASR exercises. Note that points are earned by completing the
Acquisition ASRs, not for correctness. Incorrect answers will not count against your Acquisition
ASR score. Completion of ALL unit ASRs is REQUIRED. Failure to complete ALL ASR
assignments may result in the failure of the course.
Online Meeting Assignment: You must be assigned to an online section and you must attend
the Online Meetings for your assigned section only. You may not attend on-line sections to
which you are not assigned (other than formal make-up sessions). The student is responsible
for assuring his or her own assignment to an online section. This must occur no later than the
3 rd week of classes, since each week without having an assigned section will count as a missed
class. Those who remain unassigned into the 4th week of the course will not pass the course,
having missed more than 3 online classes. When selecting an online meeting, keep in mind
that you are responsible for viewing all videos for the unit PRIOR to the online meeting.
Online meetings: Students must attend a minimum of 7 out of 10 Online Meetings, earning a
total of 35 attendance points to pass the course. Two (2) make-up meetings count towards this
minimum of 7. However, you are strongly encouraged to attend all 10 Online Meetings.
Attendance Bonus: If 10 of 10 online meetings are attended the student will receive an
attendance bonus of 10 points. Make up meetings (up to 2) count toward this bonus.
Participation in Online Instructional Meetings: Five points may be earned for participating in
each of 10 Online Instructional Meetings. Students are expected to attend AND participate in
online meetings. Participation includes asking questions, answering polls, etc. Students logged
in, but not participating during an online meeting will be logged out by the co-instructor and will
not receive credit for the session. If illness or other circumstances keep you from fully
participating in an online meeting please alert the co-instructor to these circumstances by using
the chat or private chat function in the classroom at the beginning of the session.
Missing an Online Meeting: If you miss an instructional Online Meeting, you receive a 0/5 for
that session. You must attend the Online Meetings you are assigned to. You can miss only 3
instructional Online Meetings and still pass the course!!!
Online Make-up Sessions: Two missed instructional Online Meetings may be made-up by
attending one of the designated make-up sessions for that unit. Remember that online meeting
weeks run Tuesday through Monday for each unit. So if you miss your online meeting you must
attend a Make-up meeting BFORE the end of the unit week. Detailed instructions regarding how
to reserve a spot and attend a make-up session will be posted on the ANGEL course site, in the
online meeting folder, under the course materials tab. Attendance points will be earned for
make-up meetings attended for up to 2 make-up sessions. Make-up instructional Online
Meetings beyond 2 will count as missed sessions. Make-up meetings will not be held on
University approved holidays unless otherwise noted.
