PROJECTS FUNDED UNDER THE SIXTH FRAMEWORK PROGRAMME (2002-2006)

Cancer is a complex disease with multiple causation, complex interactions
at the cell, organism but also at population level. At the
same time a challenge for interdisciplinary research collaborative
from basic to transnational and clinical level to understand better,
to integrate scientifi c expertise from the laboratory to the clinic,
to validate new innovative tools for detection and early prognosis,
to prevent and cure.
The present catalogue includes 108 projects, related to cancer
research, includes 1 500 researchers from Europe and beyond who
through their research projects participate to the ‘Combating Cancer
initiative’ part of the EU’s combating major diseases research in the
Sixth framework programme.
These projects are in the forefront of European collaborative research
and are currently providing information, progress and achievements
on scientifi c knowledge in cancer research.
