Potential applications
We believe that the competitiveness of the European technology
platform will manifest itself more strongly in the
second generation of mammography and that the proposed
project will be able to deliver a standard for 3D
mammography that will be unsurpassed for quite some
time to come. There is also no reason why the photoncounting
advantages in mammography should not be
benefi cial as well in other imaging applications, such as CT
and chest x-ray imaging. This project may provide the
example needed for the technology to spread also to
those areas.
Vision of clinical application for breast cancer detection with 3D photon counting tomosynthesis
based on research in the Highrex project.
