Morphology, growth, reproduction <strong>and</strong> recruitment<br />

1 Silver dory has the thin, deep body typical of the dories. The body is a uni<strong>for</strong>m silver<br />

colour, the fins are pink, <strong>and</strong> the spiny dorsal <strong>and</strong> pelvic fin tips are black. Individuals<br />

attain an average of 20 to 30cm in length, but can reach a maximum of 40cm. There<br />

is no in<strong>for</strong>mation available on the reproduction or recruitment of this <strong>species</strong>.<br />

Spatial <strong>and</strong> temporal distribution <strong>and</strong> key areas (feeding, spawning,<br />

2 Silver dory inhabits the New Zeal<strong>and</strong> shelf <strong>and</strong> slope <strong>and</strong> is reported from water<br />

depths between 20 - 450m. Silver dory is taken as bycatch in all fishery management<br />

areas (FMAs) <strong>and</strong> thus appears to be a widespread <strong>species</strong>.<br />

3 There is no in<strong>for</strong>mation available regarding feeding, spawning or migratory<br />

behaviour.<br />
