8 Due to its widespread geographic distribution, javelinfish has been reported as<br />

bycatch in 32 target fisheries over the last five fishing years. For the fishing years<br />

2002/03 – 2006/07 total EEZ reported catch of javelinfish was 29,781 tonnes, most of<br />

which was taken by bottom trawl. The following table summarises the total catch<br />

distribution by Fisheries Management Area (FMA) <strong>for</strong> the fishing years 2002/03 –<br />
