6 MASTER PLAN ANNUAL UPDATE veterans expressway and the suncoast Parkway to a cashless, all-electronic toll collection system. the aet Phase 6 conversion project includes 20 ramp toll plazas and five mainline toll plazas. Both the widening and the aet conversion projects are scheduled for construction in fY 2014. 415462-2 south florida conversion to all-electronic tolling (aet) Phase 4 on the turnpike from golden Glades to Griffin Road in Miamidade and broward counties. this is Phase 4 of a program to convert all existing toll collection facilities on the turnpike system to a cashless, all-electronic toll collection system. the project limits of aet Phase 4 begin at the golden glades Interchange on the turnpike mainline in Miami-Dade County, and end at the Griffin Road Interchange on the turnpike mainline in broward county. the Phase 4 conversion project includes seven ramp toll plazas and one mainline toll plaza. (aet Phases 1, 2, and 3 are currently under construction.) AET gantry on the HEFT at the Bird Road mainline plaza. AET Phase 4 also includes two efficiency projects. The first efficiency project is the widening of the northbound heft to northbound turnpike ramp in miami-dade county to two lanes and the elimination of the eastbound lane drop from the heft. In addition, the northbound turnpike will be widened to extend the acceleration lane and expand the merge area to receive the widened ramp. this is an operational and safety improvement that will reduce the congestion that forms on the ramp and backs up toward the miramar toll Plaza and improve the merging operation on the turnpike mainline. The second efficiency project is at the Hollywood boulevard Interchange in south broward county. It will construct an additional southbound turnpike off-ramp for southbound turnpike to westbound hollywood boulevard movements and introduce a new signalized intersection at the ramp terminal. this ramp will have all-electronic toll collection with a standard two-lane gantry and support structures. Implementing this project will remove a substantial amount of traffic from the interchange and reduce back-ups onto the turnpike that occur on a regular basis. this ramp will also simplify implementation of the ultimate reconfiguration of the Hollywood boulevard Interchange. the construction phase is scheduled for fY 2012. 420809-3 Implement the Interstate 595 (I-595) Improvements in broward county. this is an fdot district four project to implement several major improvements to the I-595 corridor from the Interstate 75 (I-75)/sawgrass expressway Interchange to the I-595/Interstate 95 (I-95) Interchange. the approximate project length is 10.5 miles. In addition to roadway resurfacing, major features of this project include geometric improvements to the I-595/turnpike Interchange, tolled reversible express lanes (to be called “595Express”) on I-595 serving traffic to/from the I-75/sawgrass expressway Interchange from/to east of s.r. 7 with a direct connection to the turnpike mainline, auxiliary lanes on eastbound and westbound I-595 and s.r. 84, and grade-separated, braided entrance and exit ramps. as part of this project, the turnpike/I-595 Interchange is being reconstructed to improve its operation and to incorporate the “595express” ramps so that a direct connection to the median of the turnpike is created.
Florida’s <strong>Turnpike</strong> over I-595 this project is being implemented under a P3 agreement which is a public-private partnership that has been created between the florida department of transportation and acs Infrastructure development, a private entity that serves as the project concessionaire. Under the P3 agreement, the concessionaire is responsible for designing, building, financing, operating, and maintaining the project. fdot district four and the turnpike serve as funding partners for this project. the turnpike will maintain and operate the toll collection facilities after the project has been completed. 422349-1 replace and Widen the ramp bridge over the turnpike mainline at Pga boulevard in Palm beach county. this is a project to replace and widen the existing ramp bridge over the turnpike mainline/s.r. 91 at Pga boulevard in Palm beach county. the existing one-lane bridge has a substandard vertical clearance. also, the existing bridge envelope does not provide for the future eight-lane widening of the turnpike mainline in this location. the new bridge will consist of two spans and two northbound off-ramp lanes with an overall length of 245 feet. the vertical clearance will be 17.2 feet. signing, FY 2011 - FY 2035 lighting, drainage, and other elements are included in the project design. this project is programmed for construction in fY 2012. 422350-1 replace the ramp bridge over the turnpike mainline at Indiantown road (jupiter Interchange) in Palm beach county. this is a project to replace the existing ramp bridge over the turnpike mainline/s.r. 91 at Indiantown road in Palm beach county. the existing bridge has a substandard vertical clearance. also, the existing bridge envelope does not provide for the future eight-lane widening of the turnpike mainline. the new bridge will consist of two spans with an overall length of 261 feet. the vertical clearance will be 17 feet. various signing, lighting, drainage, and other elements are also included in the design. this project is programmed for construction in fY 2012. 422418-8, 422418-7, 422418-6, 422418-5, 422418-4, 422418-3, 422418-2, 422418-1 construct and Implement service Plaza <strong>Update</strong>s system-wide in miami-dade, broward, Palm beach, st. lucie, okeechobee, osceola, orange, and sumter counties. florida’s turnpike enterprise has eight turnpike service plazas located at approximately 40-mile spacing along the turnpike mainline, from snapper creek in miami-dade county to okahumpka in sumter county. the service plazas and their locations are as follows: • • snapper creek service Plaza located at milepost 19 in miami-dade county Pompano beach service Plaza located at milepost 65 in broward county • West Palm beach service Plaza located at milepost 94 in Palm beach county 7
