Jeff Snyder ’06 continued his education at<br />

SUNY Oswego, graduating with a bachelor’s<br />

degree in meteorology and a bachelor’s degree<br />

in mathematics. In 2009, he joined Northeast<br />

Wind, a small wind energy development firm<br />

in Vermont. As the sole meteorologist, he<br />

performs wind energy production estimates<br />

and other technical analysis for commercial<br />

scale wind turbine projects under construction<br />

and in development across the Northeast.<br />

Jade Myers ’12 received the SUNY<br />

Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in May.<br />

She plans to transfer to continue her education.<br />

Dr. Preston Pierce ’79 received the National<br />

Daughters of the American Revolution Medal<br />

of Honor at a ceremony at American Legion<br />

Post 256 in Canandaigua in April 2012.<br />

Gregory Sammons ’96, chief of the<br />

Alfred State University police department,<br />

received the Chancellor’s Award for<br />

Professional Service. He was recognized<br />

for leading his department in the accreditation<br />

process with the NYS Division of Criminal<br />

Justice Services, developing curriculum for<br />

campus emergency preparedness, preparing<br />

a training video shared with other SUNY<br />

campuses and facilitating grants that resulted<br />

in the purchase of emergency sirens.<br />

Matthew Weber ’09 was named a deputy<br />

with the Wayne County Sheriff ’s road patrol.<br />

Kevin Whittaker ’04 was recognized for<br />

excellence by the Canandaigua VA Medical<br />

Center during National Nurses Week.<br />

The release of Mark Arnold’s ’01 first CD,<br />

“Bells of Dawn,” was celebrated at a June 2<br />

event.<br />

Erica Koch ’98 Bapst received the<br />

Entrepreneurial Award from the Professional<br />

Women of the <strong>Finger</strong> <strong>Lakes</strong> at its 2012<br />

Women of Distinction Awards in February.<br />

Erica, the owner of Adorn Jewelry and<br />

Accessories in Canandaigua, was honored<br />

again in May by the FLCC Fine Arts faculty<br />

with the FLCC Outstanding Fine Arts<br />

Alumni Achievement Award. Her website<br />

Gloria J. Dancause ’86, adjunct instructor<br />

for the FLCC visual and performing arts<br />

department, was selected to participate in<br />

the New York State Education Department’s<br />

Initiative on Emergent Bilinguals. This<br />

fulfills a professional benchmark, where<br />

she can advocate for Common Core Learning<br />

Standards Alignment for speakers and<br />

learners of all languages as well as standards<br />

in English Language Arts.<br />

Monica Hall ’06 performed in three<br />

productions on the Rhapsody of the Sea,<br />

part of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines<br />

over several months in the last year.<br />

Bill Santelli ’73 was one of 45 regional artists<br />

who participated in the spring 2012 Oxford<br />

Gallery show featuring interpretations of the<br />

theme, Palimpsest. Bill’s contribution to the<br />

exhibit was an acrylic on canvas entitled<br />

“To Lead the Mind Back.” View this and his<br />

After winning a concerto competition in winter<br />

2012, Kahlil Sarikey ’07 performed in March<br />

with the Eastman Philharmonia Chamber<br />

Orchestra. Currently a doctoral student at the<br />

Eastman School of Music, Kahlil received a<br />

bachelor’s degree from Buffalo State <strong>College</strong> and<br />

a master’s degree in performance from Eastman.<br />
