clAss notEs business Administration Julie Caves ’88 accepted the position of assistant vice president and portfolio credit risk manager at Canandaigua National Bank & Trust. Brenda Cordero ’08 ’10 was promoted to banking officer at Lyons National Bank and is responsible for managing all operations of the accounting department. Carmen Marie Johnson-Lawrence ’00 has a blue-eyed white Persian cat named Cashelcatrua St. James Park that she shows in the Cat Fanciers Association (CFA). She and her cat, which ranked 23rd in premiership (neutered/spayed cats) in the Great Lakes Region for the 2011—2012 show season, were recognized on June 9 at the region banquet in Canton, Ohio. Robin Holevinski ’98 spent the past five years researching the regional coyote population. Robin, who was the 2010 Outstanding FLCC Conservation Alumni Award recipient, was a wildlife biologist with the state Department of Environmental Conservation when she identified an opportunity to work with coyote research and earn her Ph.D. Sue Krobusek ’04 and the gardens at her home in Farmington were featured in the spring edition of Canandaigua Magazine. Her gardens were also a highlight of the June District 7 NY Federated Garden Clubs Tour of Gardens. A master gardener, Sue writes a gardening column, Offshoots, for the Victor weekly newspaper and volunteers at Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Historic Park. Noah Pasqua-Godkin ’10, who is pursuing two bachelor’s degrees in environmental biology and environmental science at SUNY ESF, is living and working this summer at the SUNY ESF Cranberry Lake Biological Station in the Adirondacks. FLCC Technical Specialist Emeritus Hank Roenke ’73, who has been a volunteer in many capacities for the Boy Scouts of America for decades, was recognized at the 37th Annual Youth Power Dinner on April 28. Scott Topel ’01, who has a bachelor’s degree in music performance and has taught, performed and toured the world, returned to the Finger Lakes and is currently working with students at Lyric Arts Academy in Farmington. Robert Van Keuren ’09 received the 2011 Secretary’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in Service to Homeless Veterans at a special event in January at the Syracuse VA Medical Center. Recently retired, he was honored for four decades of service to veterans. He was director of the Vietnam Veterans of San Diego and worked on homeless veterans issues for 18 years. During the Vietnam War, he served on more than 200 combat missions and was the recipient of the Purple Heart, Navy Commendation Medal with Combat V and the Combat Action Ribbon. humanities Lynn Freid ’08, FLCC manager of business development and training, was honored with the New York Association of Training and Employment Professionals (NYATEP) Workforce Excellence Recognition Award for a workshop at the association’s spring conference. Lynn’s presentation was titled “Industry Partnerships: Developing Training Initiatives that Lead to Employment.” Glass restorer John Lord ’71 was featured in several regional newspaper articles during the winter for his work on the historic Tiffany glass mosaic of The Last Supper in the Chapel at the Spa Apartments in Clifton Springs. The circa 1890 mosaic piece is one of only three like it in the world. 15
