State Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb came to FLCC to give the
commencement address and ended up graduating as well. Brian earned
a majority of his two-year credits from CCFL when the college held classes
in downtown Canandaigua storefronts, but he finished his degree
at St. Petersburg College after moving to Florida. Unbeknownst to Brian,
FLCC transferred enough credits from St. Petersburg to complete his
associate degree requirements at FLCC.
When President Barbara Risser made the surprise presentation,
she explained, “We felt a bona fide FLCC associate degree
is the best token of our appreciation for your ever-present
support for Finger Lakes Community College and our students.”
