User Guide
Introduction
The LSR130 is a compact 2D bar code reader with integrated manual MSR and
optional OCR. The LSR130 provides a robust and cost-effective solution for check-in
areas, duty-free shops and airport lounges that typically handle 2D airline and home
printed documents but have the occasional need to read ATB2 documents, credit cards
and frequent flyer cards (FQTV). The optional OCR reads machine readable passports,
visas, travel documents conforming to ICAO recommendation 9303, TAT and ATB
tickets, resident alien and Green Cards..
Bar Code Reading
To read a bar coded check in ticket, place the document face-up into the bar
code reader zone. Once the document is detected, the bar code reader’s LEDs
will illuminate the document (the bar code on a mobile phone or PDA will be
automatically illuminated at a lower level than a bar code on a paper document to
optimise bar code reading).
The bar code imager is omni-directional, and a well-printed document should be
read almost immediately and in any orientation. Improved read performance will
be achieved if the document is held flat on the surface under the bar code reader.
The LSR130 will determine if the document is valid and the green LED will be
illuminated.

MSR / ATB2 Reading
OCR / Passport Reading
To read an ATB or a document or
mag stripe card, swipe the media
with the magnetic stripe facing
into the unit, that is away from the
operator.
The swipe reader is omni-directional
so the mag stripe can be swiped in
either direction.
To read an OCR document, swipe
the OCR with the characters/printed
side facing away from the unit, that is
towards the operator.
The swipe reader is omni-directional
so the OCR can be swiped in either
direction.
