REAC Connie, from Martha & Mary at Home, was there before the meeting to take blood pressures. She will be there for the hour before each meeting. It’s free, so please utilize this opportunity. Shirl, who is VP, conducted the meeting with Neil coaching her through it. There was an invitation to attend Buckley Eagles 36 th REAC anniversary on Sunday May 19, 2013. If anyone is interested, please see Gayle. Myrt Kneeland sent a note about life in Snohomish County, and also included her address and phone number for anyone wanting to contact her; please see Gayle for this information. Marge Endsley is at Ridgemont in room 403; she is doing good and would love having visitors. Betty’s cast is off but she is still at Life Care Center; stop by and see her when you can. Our picnic will be held in July 2013. On September 28, 2013, there will be a free dinner for everyone who has ever been an officer in the club. You can bring guests who will also enjoy a free dinner. Mark your calendar. One of our REAC members requested a speaker on gardening for Seniors. I already have May and June taken, but I’ll do my best to see if I can juggle speakers. We had one birthday: Steve’s. There were no anniversaries. The door prize was won by Shirl and Bill, and Shirl won the 50/50 as well. If anyone wants to take the REAC photo album home to look at it, please let me know. Just a reminder: if you have a gripe or complaint about something, take it to Neil and not to other members. Our next meeting is May 9, 2013; there will be no potluck; we are going to China Sun after our Yes, this is another “thank you” from Ken Bicha…. Yes, indeed! This time it is for three events held on Saturday, March 30, 2013. Beginning at 10:00am, Joe Petrowski, Deane Robinson, Joyce Moreau and I provided parking for the Fathoms o’Fun Easter Egg Hunt at Jackson Park here in Port Orchard. At 2:30pm, Tacoma Aerie #3 stopped by for a short visitation and were greeted and “entertained” by Neil Lively, Dave Severtsen, Tom Riedel, Roy Denson, Sharon and Ed Gadberry and I. Kitty Bickle pitched in and helped Martha Koslowski tend bar. All day long, starting at “O-Dark Thirty” Don Smith, Ed and Sharon Gadberry cooked and prepared a super prime rib dinner. Shirl Smith set the tables and sold tickets to the event and Debbie and Darby Davies and Steve Stavnicki helped with serving and cleanup. A Huge “THANK YOU” also goes to the following Crafty Crew who helped modify our “Visitor Register:” Ann Hilliard, Mary Jane Ferron, Jolene Bratcher, Pam Hall, Aggie Brekke, Sharon Mathis and Doris Hamby. Tons of work goes into these events...thanks to all for making them so successful! JOIN OUR GARDEN PARTY... We are having a planting party on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at 10:00am! It’s the time of year to divide the plants in your yard…...so why not bring them to the club to plant? We are looking for shade plants as well as sun lovers. If anyone has manure to spread (the fertilizer type) bring that too! We always have lots of fun and tell lots of stories (you may want to bring boots) so come on down and let’s beautify our grounds for all the upcoming events this spring and summer!
SPRING INTO ACTION Submitted by Jolene Bratcher, Trustee With the starting of spring coming upon us it’s time for the Sisters and Brothers to spring into some new changes. Let’s put all the negativity that has hurt so many behind us and do our best to forgive and forget and get back to the tasks that have brought us together: helping each other and our community. Let’s get back those beautiful smiles shared between Brothers and Sisters and keep our communication open as we work together to heal old wounds and start out again hand in hand and SPRING TOGETHER and make this club a happy and joyful place to come and have fun and get things done as a team! Let’s SPRING into action and remember we are a FRATERNAL ORDER and what that means. By SPRINGING INTO ACTION we can make the Port Orchard Aerie #2338 both the best Aerie and Auxiliary in the state! We can be known as the “Happy and Smiling Eagles” if we all work together! I’ve got my smile on and I challenge you to all wear yours as well…..it’s the best accessory we have! BLUE/GOLD STAR DINNER Port Orchard Eagles #2338, located at 4001 Jackson Avenue SE, will host its Fourth Annual Blue/Gold Star dinner on Thursday, May 23, 2013, to honor and show appreciation to the men and women of the military and their families for their selfless service to our country and/or for their ultimate sacrifice. This dinner is one of three events each year that is open to the public. It starts at 5:00pm and costs just $6.00. Contact the Aerie for further information at 360.376.2338. AERIE 75TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION MAY 2014 It seems like far away, but it’s only a little over a year before we celebrate such an important anniversary for our Aerie. Not only is it the 75th anniversary (our diamond jubilee) for the Aerie, it is the 40th anniversary in this building! I’m looking to get a collection of pictures of the history of our Aerie. If you have any pictures of the past (like old pictures of other locations before we came to reside in our current building), pictures of past events, etc., please bring them to the club and put your name and phone number so I can get them back to you after I copy them to make a collage for our celebration. —Dave Sivertsen, PWP
