HOBO STEW COOK-OFF
Linda Simpson and Vance
Vaught conducted an extremely successful
fundraiser for Fisher House. Seventeen
crockpots of stew were judged by Mayor Tim Mathis,
City Councilman Fred Chang, Washington State Trustee
Frank Santa Cruz and Past Washington State President Bill
“Garfield” Stotbo.
Darby Davies finished first with his “kinda spicy”
stew. Tom Bickle, who makes his own dog food, modified
that recipe slightly to come in second. Linda Simpson
placed third with her hearty entrée.
In addition to the $1012.00 donated to Fisher
House, a “hat” was passed to support the JNROTC Program
who provided a color guard as well as volunteered to
“bus” tables; they received $165.00. Their cadets presented
a plaque to Aerie President, Tom Riedel, to thank
the Eagles for raising over $500.00 to send two of their cadets
to compete in an air rifle competition in Salt Lake
City, Utah, earlier this year.
Our next major event will be the Blue Star/Gold
Star Dinner on Thursday, May 23, 2013, at 5:00pm. Cost
of dinner for non-military is $6.00.
