MURDEN CEMETERY On a farm in Jefferson Township, Miami County, Indiana, located on the banks of Eel river, two miles north-east of Mexico, Indiana, owned by W. H. Howes and tenanted by Mrs. Ruth See, is a small cemetery, beautifully situated on a hillside of the woodland pasture. Only the body of one person is there now, the Murden family having moved their dead to one of the cemeteries in Peru, Indiana, with the exception of that one. At first there was no marker, but one of the brothers finally did erect one and placed an iron fence around the grave. The fence, having rusted, is down, and the stone was down until Mr. Grover See, the farm tenant, re-erected it and mended the fence, but the mending did not last and the fence is again down. Mr. and Mrs. Howes, owners of the farm, being very distant relatives of the Murden family, are hoping to locate a near relative who would reset the stone and place a new fence around it. The information on this cemetery is taken from the undated notes of Evelyn Rader as found in Cook, Cemeteries of Miami County, Vol. 1) MURDEN, Imri G., July 10, 1856 - Aug 26, 1856, ae 1m-16d
