ALUMNI ASSOCIATION PRESENTS AWARDS<br />

The <strong>Finger</strong> <strong>Lakes</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>Alumni</strong> Association recognized the following outstanding alumni at<br />

a ceremony on May 17, the evening before commencement. This year’s award recipients were Ryan Henry ’07, Athletic Hall<br />

of Fame Inductee; Dennis Hicks ’73, Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee; Melissa Newcomb ’02, Outstanding Art <strong>Alumni</strong> Achievement<br />

Award; Aaron Foley ’00, Outstanding Conservation <strong>Alumni</strong> Achievement Award; Susan Krobusek ’04, Outstanding Horticulture<br />

<strong>Alumni</strong> Achievement Award; and Savannah Jones ’12, 2012 Scholar Athlete Award.<br />

FLCC’s first ever Outstanding Humanities <strong>Alumni</strong> Achievement Award was presented to Gary Schoepfel ’75. Gary has worked<br />

as an educator and professional actor, holding positions at Lorain County <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> in Ohio and at Columbia <strong>College</strong><br />

in Chicago. Among other roles, he has served as a vice president at the Great Books Foundation.<br />

In addition, the 2013 CCFL/FLCC Exceptional Service Award was presented to John Socha for the 25 years that he provided<br />

learning opportunities outside the classroom that shaped students’ lives and for the personal and professional relationships<br />

that contributed to the <strong>College</strong>’s growth and reputation.<br />

David Bloom, a member of the Facilities and Grounds department for 30 years, was the recipient<br />

of the fourth annual FLCC Spirit Award. As President Barbara Risser explained, “The FLCC Spirit<br />

Award recognizes a person whose character and heart embody the very best of this place.”<br />

Pictured to the right are Distinguished <strong>Alumni</strong> Award recipients Michael Miller ’89 and<br />

Tracey Fuller ’93. Michael, chief marketing officer of RENESYS Corporation, was honored for<br />

his professional achievement in the field of global security, leadership and service to the college.<br />

Tracey, Heiser brand president and Canandaigua branch general manager, was recognized for<br />

mentoring her coworkers and for her personal philanthropy and service to the community.<br />
