the new routine and are
We are very happy to say
that we had an amazing and
Identify the title of the
book, and ask your child
to predict what the book is
going to be about by looking
at the cover. Ask him/
her to show you what part
of the page you should
begin reading (the text
versus the picture). When
you read to your children,
you might begin to guide
their fingers across the
words as you read point-
tion and following words
from left to right and top to
bottom. In Math we will
focus on recognizing and
naming numbers to 10 and
understanding the concept
of numbers.
Some helpful reminders
for the month of September
: The weather will start
to cool off, please bring in
ing to each word as you
say it. This will help them
see that for each word
you say there is a set of
letters on the paper that
corresponds; this is
called one-to-one matching.
want to welcome all of our new
children and families! We are excited
about this school year and
look forward to working with your
children. The children are very
eager to learn the routines and
they enjoy the Strong Beginnings
This month our study topic
pipes can be seen all over
and are needed for our everyday
use. Take a few moments
each day to listen to
your child about what they
R o o m 1 2 6
are learning about water
pipes and if you know
something about them,
share that with your child
too! Both the young and the
old can learn and we can all
learn from each other. Let’s
learn and have fun together.
Have a great month!
Part Day Strong Beginnings: Explorers
P a g e 3
For the next six weeks we will implement Start Smart Soccer. Please have your child wear appropriate shoes for maximum
participation and safety.
Start Smart Soccer teaches children the basic motor skills necessary to play organized soccer. The program focuses on kicking,
running and agility without the threat of completion or the fear of getting hurt. The children will be using these terms: kicking,
dribbling, trapping, no hand, and throw ins. We will practice daily exercises with the children.
If you have any questions regarding the Start Smart Program please ask any of our staff.
