Tom Mboya, a minister in the
Kenya Government was presumably
dragged into the African Community
of Harlem, New Yark City, to announce
the scheme that his abductors
were unable to put aver themselves .
Appearing recently at the Shamburg
Collection of the Public Library,
the only institution in Harlem
of genuine substance, housing material
reflecting the works of Africans
the world over, Mr. 1~Iboya was rudely
but fortunately brought to his
senses when he told a packed audience
of brothers and sisters a kind
of fiction that only a pharoah may"
be able to interpret.
The disappointed and infuriated
brothers here who were not already"
killed or jailed for promoting African
Liberation taught the farmer
promising brother a lesson, it is
hoped, he might never forget.
It all started when the African
brother startled his joyful sisters and
brothers by repeating the familiar
stereotypes of the neo-calanists that
"they must not run away to Africa ;
they should stay and fight for their
rights."
Pandemonium Broke Loose
As if by magic or mystery the
pleasant mood was suddenly and beligerently
reversed. It was like flashing
a red flag before the eyes of a
bull. Pandemonium broke loose and
Mboya was rescued only by a regiment
of policemen quickly rushed to
the scene.
The African World looked with
great hope when Mr . Mboya, then
aged 26, came into prominence as
chairman of "The All-African Peoples
Conference" called in Accra,
Ghana by the outstanding statesman,
President Kwame Nkrumah in 1958 .
While visiting the United States
in 1959 Mr. Mboya among other
things made the following important
statement
"Another point I ynust stress," he
said, "Black-Americans have beentold
they are not wanted in Africa .
This is deliberate erroneous propsganda.
You may came home whenever
you like ; Africa is yo~cr heritage
. You are wanted and needed,"
he added.
AFRICAN OPINION
Mbora Shown "Like
By James Leopold
Tom Mboya of Kenya
Since then it now comes to light
a colony of whites exists in genya,
along with those in Rhodesia, South
Africa, South West Africa, Angola,
i~Tazambique and Asmara in Ethiopia,
back door returning entrances .
Africanization Opposed
Recently a statesman member of
the Kenya Parliament introduced a
measure to legally grant African
Citizenship to Africans abroad, those
residing in the United States and the
Caribbean . That step ran into opposition,
although a healthy step for
an under-developed continent.
Nat long after a parallel paradox
occurred . The Government of Guyana
called on all Guyanese who are
American citizens and residing in the
United States of America, to vote in
her last Guyana national election,
and it is reported many did .
At the height of Marcus Garvey's
African Redemption Movement, and
the establishment of the "Black Star
Line Shipping Company", a part of
the industrial set-up, a "Princess
Koffi" was similarly brought in from
West Africa to oppose the shipping
venture.
Exposure Brings Enlightenment
The "Princess" gained entrance to
a church in a Southern State and
while castigating the black man's ef-
It "s"
farts to help himself, she was dunned
down in the pulpit by person unknown.
These incidents of course are regrettable
on the grounds that since
Tahn Gunther described Africa as
the "Greatest Prize on Earth." It is
consequently surrounded and kept in
darkness to permit imperialists entrenchment
. The trigger man undoubtedly
was not in a frame of
mind ar unable to rationalize the situation,
with the eloquence of the imperialist
agent and therefore acted.
Indications have shown that Africans
abroad, with their backs to the
wall, nevertheless possess a genuine
feeling of brotherhood for these
similarly situated at home. And they
became irritated aver those who they
thought should know better complying
with the common enemy by making
statements detrimental to both.
When the messengers of others or
prisoners of war come and tell the
well prepared brothers not to come
and help them battle for their life,
something is definitely wrong, and efforts
for mutual preservation should
be vigorously increased and pursued .
