O God of mercy, as we reach out to those seeking You, send the Holy Spirit
upon this diocese to renew us in faith. Enable us to share the good news of the
Gospel with loving words and caring deeds, so that our brothers and sisters may
be drawn to your Church and follow the way of your Son, Jesus, who is the Way,
the Truth, and the Life. Amen.

CATHOLICS COME HOME
Imagine being on the mountain with Jesus and Peter, James and
John. How to begin to understand what happened! Peter got it right
when he said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here.” For our
family of faith, though, some of us are not here.
How can we assure them that Jesus waits for all of us to return?
What can we do to show that we are waiting for them?
What costs do they experience when they think of attending church?
What can we do to lessen the costs and increase benefits for them?
What rewards do St. Catherine Church members gain?
How can we make St. Catherine the most
welcoming church it can be?
How can I play a more active role in bringing
someone here?
Pray to the Holy Spirit this week for the right words and actions
to take toward someone you know who has been away. For further
information: www.CatholicsComeHome.org.

DEAR PARISHIONERS,
Through the Campaign, Catholics Come Home, we are
reaching out to potential members by welcoming new faces
and inviting old ones back into our Sanctuary family. With
the hope of showing them who the true church is and saving
some lives we have taken some measures to makes sure everyone
feels a special, personal invitation. Examples in place
are a welcoming bulletin cover and banners outside the
church, a newspaper ad, a question table before and after
mass, coffee hour on Sunday, and throughout the diocese we
have added hours to our Sacrament of Reconciliation schedule.
We would like you to put aside a few minutes to fill out
the quick study below and return it to our Parish office or
deposit in the collection basket.
1.What outstanding characteristics do you believe St.
Catherine presents for parishioners? __________________
2. What can we do, specifically, as a parish to
educate new members of our outstanding characteristics
(as listed above)? __________________________________
3. What activities, processes and committees do we
need to enhance St. Catherine? Are you willing to
help? (If so, include contact information)______________
welcome and essential to the Church? How can we do
it? _____________________________________________________
NEW VIGIL MASS SCHEDULE
Beginning March 26 our vigil
mass will be at 4:00 PM only.
Sacrament of Reconciliation will
now be available from 3:00– 3:45 PM.
ANNULMENT WORKSHOP
March 23
After Catholics go through a divorce, there is much confusion
and misinformation about practicing their faith. The truth
is that the Catholic faith is the very key to healing after a broken
marriage and is vital to living a life filled with promise,
peace and joy. Priests and staff of the Diocesan Marriage Tribunal
will be visiting the various deaneries during the Lenten
Season to dispel some myths about Church policy on the Sacrament
of Marriage and Church Annulments and to reinforce the
teachings that started with Jesus Christ. St. Catherine will
have a free workshop on annulments presented by the Diocese
of Venice Tribunal on March 23 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM in the
Parish Hall. Plan to come with questions and be prepared to
receive answers!
Thursday, March 24
5:30 PM
St. Catherine Church
“White Mass” is a Mass dedicated to those in
health care: doctors, nurses, health care workers
and medical students of all faiths to provide an
opportunity to pray together to “Jesus, the divine
Physician and the Eternal Healer” to bestow his
blessings upon health professionals because they
have to make life and death decisions in their
daily routine.
ST. CATHERINE OF SIENA
March 25
At St. Catherine Church on Friday,
March 25 at 7:00 PM in the Church, Sr. Suzanne
Noffke, a Dominican sister who has immersed
herself in the life and works of St.
Catherine for more than thirty years, will
present a program. St. Catherine of Siena, the
patron saint of our parish, lived in 14 th century
Tuscany, but her person and voice still
have much to teach us in our efforts to be
truly Christian today. An unschooled member
of the Dominican lay movement, living only
33 years, she is now a Doctor of the Church. She held the whole
world continually in her open heart before God, and so she
served her world and her Church with God’s word and God’s
hands. Come to this special event and bring a friend for an
evening to remember. Sponsored by the Rice School.

In the Scripture this weekend, Abraham provides a
model for faithful living. He was willing to accept God’s call
to leave his homeland and go and make his home in another
land. And he was not even told where he was headed.
Yet he was willing to follow God’s invitation, trusting that
God would show him the way and tell him when he had
arrived.
St. Paul reminds us that we will have hardships along
the way, as Abraham did, but we have strength provided by
PASSION PLAY: A Story of Jesus
April 2 at Wauchula
“The Story of Jesus” passion play is billed as one of the largest
outdoor plays of any kind in the United States. The cast includes
200 people, 150 live animals, chariots, horse-drawn wagons
and carts and special effects. Every effort is made to portray
Jesus as a real, touchable, believable person while preserving
his deity. Viewers have commented that they begin to see Jesus
in a new and powerful way through the presentation.
We have group tickets to attend on Saturday April 12. Our
bus will leave the St. Catherine parking lot at 5:45 PM to deliver
all those attending at the gate at the Hardee County Cattleman’s
Arena. The play is three hours
APRIL
we should be home about 11:30 PM.
God to overcome them. When we have doubts whether Jesus
can guide us and provide for our needs, we have the
command of God the Father during the Transfiguration,
“Listen to him.”
Christ himself encourages us, “Rise, and do not be
afraid.” So let us indeed begin now to follow the path God
leads us along, unafraid to use the resources he has given
us, on our own spiritual journey as servants of the Lord.
