9.2 Future work<br />

The work on this PhD project also revealed several problems. Those issues pro-<br />

vided significant insight into the topic, even if not all <strong>of</strong> them could be solved<br />

within this study.<br />

The problems that could not be solved during this project will have to be addressed<br />

in the future.<br />

9.2.1 Long term evaluation <strong>of</strong> the framework and the HEAT<br />

It would have been ideal if there had been the opportunity for a long-term eval-<br />

uation <strong>of</strong> the 3-Layer-Model, the EFTECS and the HEAT. Additionally, the ex-<br />

periments could have had even better results if there had been even more teachers<br />

from different teaching levels.<br />

For example, the HEAT could be used at a school or a university for one or even<br />

better two years. This would allow in-depth insights into the usability <strong>of</strong> the<br />

EFTECS and the HEAT as well as the creation <strong>of</strong> a significant content space.<br />

Furthermore, the analysis and development <strong>of</strong> additional TLSs and EHPs could<br />

be undertaken in a real-life teaching scenario.<br />

Another approach could be to use the framework and the HEAT in different teach-<br />

ing institutions but involving work with students from the same level. This ap-<br />

proach could especially provide results concerning the reusability <strong>of</strong> educational<br />

content.<br />

However, the time frame and the budget <strong>of</strong> this PhD project only allowed for the<br />

undertaken experiments.<br />

9.2.2 Implementation <strong>of</strong> additional TLSs<br />

The most important issue that will have to be addressed in future work is the<br />

analysis and implementation <strong>of</strong> additional EHPs and TLSs. During the interview<br />

evaluation, but especially during the practical evaluation, it was shown that the<br />

EHPs and TLSs implemented in the HEAT are not sufficient for every aspect<br />
