Sobukwe Personally Launched and led the Historic Sharpville-Langa Positive Action which rocked the<br />

world and change the course of S . African history . .<br />

Sobukwe was the First Political prisoner to be detained on Robben Island, a former lepper colony<br />

turned into a maximum security prison in the 20th century following armed insurrection by POQO, the<br />

armed wing ofP .A.C . before APLA-Azanian Armed People's Liberation Army . According to John<br />

Vorster then minister of justice he was to be kept "till this side of eternity ."<br />

Sobukwe was described by Dr . Kwame Nkrumah as "one of the foremost Pan Africanist Philosophers<br />

and political leaders of our times ."<br />

After the 1976 Soweto Rebellion,Sobukwe said "In Sharpville we overcame the Consequences of<br />

disobeying the law . Soweto has been a lesson in overcoming the gun."<br />
