BLACK POWER : Pa e 6 BLACKS REBEL IN EAST PALO .ALTO Police sicked.dogs on Black Sisters and shot dawn Black Brothers in the street last month, causing bloods to go on a two-day rampage in East Palo Alto and sparking the beginning; of a "Black Patrol" in th e area . On Saturday night, July 29, a concert at Nlenlo Atherton High School riven the Majesties, a local Black sinL;ing group, was broken up by police violence when a white cop asked a Brother to leave because "I don't like your attitude ." After the show, a crowd of Brothers gathered around the two white cons, protesting the action, and when one of the pops pulled out his pistol he was bombarded with bottles and ash trays . Police reinf oreements, which had been waiting ar®und the corner, were rushed in, complete with eight to tc3n dogs, which were immediately sicked on several Black Sis-t-ers . Several Black Sist©rs were pushed to the ground by police, and one Bla ck Brother, Clarenc e J.enkins , wa s severely beaten b :;r police . The ne xt night, a white cop fired twice into a cravrd of young bloods afte;r~ he was hit in the jaw by a brick . Two Brothers were hit and one of them, Ronnie Hall, was later charged with attempted murder, the brick . even though he did rot throvr Brothers in the area have formed a Black Corr~nunity Relations Association and are currently following; police cars around, making sure they are fair and honest in their dealings with the Black East Palo Alto community . Brother Stokely visited Puerto Rico earlier this yoar, and he is reported to be leaving for Hanoi, Democratic Republic of Vietnam, later this week far a visit.
