the adequacy of treatment (target coverage, dose, fractionation) and safety
(observing well-established dose-volume critical structure thresholds). The
resident will be closely supervised throughout the process by the attending
physician, but will be responsible for presenting and justifying the entire treatment
plan, including decision to treat using any available supporting evidence. It is
possible to fail the examination by exceeding normal tissue thresholds in the
absence of proper justification, causing potential harm to the patient, or by undertreating
the tumor.
