2.1.4. Accumulative Roll-Bonding<br />

In accumulative roll-bonding (ARB) process, two metal strips are rolled together<br />

with a blowing agent in between them as shown in Figure 2.11 (Kitazono, et al. 2004).<br />

The prepared strip is then rolled by 50% reduction and cut into two. These two strips are<br />

stacked together and then rolled again. After several repetitions of stacking and rolling<br />

and then cutting the blowing agent particles are homogeneously dispersed in metal<br />

matrix (Figure 2.11). The rolled composite metal is used as a foamable precursor in the<br />

following high temperature foaming process.<br />
