IN AERIES ACTION<br />

BLAIR, NE – Aerie/Auxiliary 3215<br />

members are a <strong>for</strong>ce in <strong>the</strong><br />

community. Last Thanksgiving, <strong>the</strong>y<br />

served 100 turkey dinners and<br />

delivered 30 meals to shut-ins. At<br />

Christmas <strong>the</strong>y delivered food<br />

baskets and adopted two local<br />

children <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> holiday. “Times are<br />

tough <strong>for</strong> everyone, but we dug deep<br />

into our pockets and showed o<strong>the</strong>rs<br />

that <strong>the</strong> Blair <strong>Eagles</strong> are here and we<br />

still do what we do best – helping<br />

o<strong>the</strong>rs,” said Worthy President Doc<br />

Holiday.<br />

SHARPSBURG, PA – Jade Huffhines<br />

was born with Cystic Fibrosis, and<br />

last fall her conditioned worsened to<br />

<strong>the</strong> extent that she needed a lung<br />

transplant. Though Jade lived in<br />

Illinois, her<br />

uncle, Bob<br />

Stahl, was a<br />

member <strong>of</strong><br />

Aerie 1574,<br />

and <strong>the</strong><br />

local <strong>Eagles</strong><br />

raised<br />

$1,300 <strong>for</strong><br />

Jade’s medical costs. Un<strong>for</strong>tunately,<br />

she passed away several days later.<br />

Mayrh<strong>of</strong>er and Chaplain Vic Grill<br />

MOOSE JAW, SASK – The Aerie/Auxiliary 3395 Prairie Eagle<br />

Riders held a Poker Derby that raised $1,258.75 <strong>for</strong> Moose Jaw<br />

Union Hospital Children's Ward. ER President Ross Crampton<br />

presented <strong>the</strong> check to Kelly McElree <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Moose Jaw Health<br />

Foundation.<br />

HOWELL, MI – Members <strong>of</strong> Aerie 3607 held a Make-A-Wish fundraising event that<br />

raised more than $7,000 <strong>for</strong> a local girl, The event included an AUCE dinner, music by<br />

Deveraux Dawgs, silent and live auctions and more. The Detroit Red Wings, NASCAR<br />

and area businesses helped with donations.<br />

presented a $500 donation from<br />

Aerie 3557 to Chuck Harper <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Upper Room Mission. The Aerie and<br />

its Auxiliary presented $11,400 in<br />

donations to o<strong>the</strong>r charities, as well.<br />

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – The Junior<br />

<strong>Order</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Eagles</strong> at Aerie/Auxiliary<br />

3204 have an active helping hand.<br />

The local JOEs donated $105 <strong>for</strong><br />

victims <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> earthquake in Haiti,<br />

$200 to help local art students take a<br />

special trip to New York City, and<br />

$300 to help 14-year-old Sam<br />

Kennedy become <strong>the</strong> youngest<br />

person to ever climb Mt. Rainier.<br />

GLENDALE, AZ – All proceeds from<br />

<strong>the</strong> Aerie/Auxiliary 2843 annual<br />

<strong>Eagles</strong> Chili Cook-Off went to <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Eagles</strong> Art Ehrmann Cancer Fund.<br />

SEATTLE, WA – “Haiti Aid,” a benefit<br />

concert and silent auction <strong>for</strong><br />

earthquake devastated Haiti<br />

sponsored by West Seattle<br />

Aerie/Auxiliary 2643, raised<br />

$4,526.43. The money was donated<br />

to Mercy Corps.<br />

NORWALK, OH – Aerie 711 joined<br />

with AutoGate, Inc. <strong>of</strong> Berlin<br />

Heights to raise $2,000 <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Make-A-Wish Foundation. AutoGate<br />

held a<br />

party last<br />

year.<br />

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL – Suncoast Aerie 3153 raised $1,000<br />

<strong>for</strong> Haiti Relief at a fundraiser after new member Hajo Huelss<br />

saw a news report and decided to get involved. Dr Nicholas<br />

Toro <strong>of</strong> “Help Bring Hope For Haiti” accepted <strong>the</strong> check from<br />

Worthy President Gary Spinelli, Hajo Huelss and Committee<br />

Chairman Dennis Sabo.<br />
