IFA Educational Foundation The IFA Educational Foundation, founded in 1983, serves as the education and research arm of the association. The foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization and is supported through the generous contributions of IFA members and others. All contributions are tax deductible. Meeting the requirements of the program and completing the course of study leads to the Certified Franchise Executive (CFE) designation. The mission of the ICFE is to enhance the professionalism of franchising by certifying the highest standards of quality training and education. “There are many benefits of the CFE program. CFEs gain respect and recognition, excellent opportunities for networking and sharing best practices, being more attractive in the job market, and accelerating their professional career advancement,” said Linda C. Haneborg, CFE, chair of the ICFE Board of Governors and senior vice president, Express Services, Inc. More than 1,100 franchise executives are currently enrolled in the CFE program working to achieve the CFE designation. IFA Diversity Institute The IFA Diversity Institute was formed to promote and foster diversity and inclusion within the franchising community and to promote franchising to diverse communities. The Institute provides information to assist IFA members to expand their diversity efforts at all levels, including franchisees, employees, suppliers and consumers. The Institute is led by a 20 member Board of Directors comprised of IFA members. The Institute has an Advisory Council comprised of representatives from other organizations, such as the National Urban League, Association of Small Business Development Centers, National Council of La Raza, and the Minority Business Development Agency. The Diversity Institute has four areas of focus: Research – Document best practices in diverse franchise recruitment, employee hiring and retention, and supplier diversity. Education – Help IFA members incorporate diversity into their systems and build on existing programs. Communication – Increase diversity communications within the IFA and increase franchising communication to external diverse audiences. Resource Development – To support and expand diversity efforts within the franchise community and franchising outreach to diverse communities Contact Information: Diversity Institute (202) 628-8000 MinorityFran Launched in February, 2006, MinorityFran provides one, convenient place where minority prospects can explore franchise offerings of companies actively looking to recruit minority franchisees. The initiative builds on relationships forged with leading organizations through the IFA Diversity Institute, such as the National Urban League, Association of Small Business Development Centers,, and the Minority Business Development Agency. The goal is to not only increase the numbers of minority franchisees, but to send the message to all communities that franchising is a smart and affordable way to realize the American Dream of small business ownership.
