Azani, and Chalybi, and Meusel calls them ZKuGai, KevcTipeg,<br />

KotuKLuvei;, ipnpoi. ffTobioi, KUKXujcrdvioi, khI XaTTdrei;, Kai<br />

aTTopoi, Kai dpftioi, kui MX^oi, kki xaX&txToi, kui laeTUJiro-<br />

ijjopeg, Kai dxpiocpdYOi, Kai eiiiuvu)iiTai (p. 707). The Syriac<br />

version (<strong>Budge</strong>, <strong>Alexander</strong>, p. 2) has a different set of names<br />

again. The scout who addressed Nectanebus probably enumera-<br />

ted the chief barbarian tribes which lived in the countries<br />

between Persia and Egypt.<br />
