THE HISTORY
OF THE
BLESSED MEN WHO LIVED IN THE DAYS
OF JEREMIAH THE PROPHET
IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, AND OF THE SON,
AND OF THE HOLY GHOST, ONE GOD.
Hearken, O brethren, and we will relate to you
a new history, that is to say, we will tell you the
story of the holy, righteous, and blessed men
who lived in the days of Jeremiah the Prophet,
the son of Hilkiah/ Now there reigned [at that
time] a king whose name was Zedekiah,^ the sonzedewahthe
of Josiah, and he walked not in the way of jjjs'^''^'^'""^-
father, but made a graven image of an idol for
himself, and he bowed down before it in secret;
then he spake openly, saying, "I am the son of
"David, of the house of Judah"; and this thing
was heard in Jerusalem and in all the borders
thereof. And it came to pass that when the holy
men who were in Jerusalem heard these words,
