IN THE NAME OF THE LIVING GOD, THE MERCIFUL, THE
GRACIOUS, WE [begin TO] WRITE THE HISTORY
OF ALEXANDER AS IT IS FOUND IN [tHE
WORK of] ABU SHAKER.
Alexander, the son of Philip the Greek, the
Two-horned, reigned fifty- six' years, and [he began
to reign] when he was sixteen^ years old, and the
whole number of his days were seventy-two years.^
So likewise saith Batariku, the Patriarch of Rom,
but Sa'id ibn Batrak,'* and Walda Mankas^ say that
the number of his days were thirty-two years, and
that the days of his reign were sixteen^ years.
