"God are exceedingly wonderful." And again the<br />

angel called to another monster and commanded<br />

him to pass quite close to' the Two-horned;<br />

now he was as black as a cloud, and the Two-<br />

horned did not see his tail [come forth from<br />

the sea] until two days and two nights were<br />

ended.'' The angel said unto him, "Hast thou ever<br />

"seen a monster like unto this, or any that was<br />

"greater than he.''" And the Two-horned answered,<br />

"Nay, [p. 164] my lord." And the angel said unto<br />

him, "Who hath called thee to [the work] which<br />

"thou hast done? Hath not God Almighty made<br />

"thee to know that His marvellous and wonderful<br />

"things are exceedingly great.'' Or dost thou, <strong>Alexander</strong>s<br />

"perhaps, desire to know His mysteries?" And thT" ar^'ei.<br />

the Two -horned said unto the angel, "O my<br />

"lord, inasmuch as my God hath given unto me<br />

"whatsoever is in the dry land, and in the sea,<br />

"and in the mountains, and in the darkness, I<br />

"desire to know what are His works in the sea."<br />

And the angel said unto him, "That which is in<br />

"the sea was not given unto thee." And it came<br />

to pass on the third day that the angel called<br />

another monster [from the sea], and he said unto<br />

him, "Pass thou by the Two-horned quickly, like a mighty<br />

"a flash of lightning"; and the monster rushed the deep,<br />

forward and passed him with swiftest speed, but the<br />
