And it came to pass that the Two -horned<br />

ordered his troops to march, and they prepared<br />

to go forth. And he took with him all such ships<br />

as were needful for them, and then he journeyed<br />

on until he came to the sea which lieth beyond <strong>Alexander</strong><br />

the heavens and the earth, whereon no ship had and sets out.<br />

ever sailed, and which no man whatsoever had<br />

at any time crossed; [p. 162] but God Almighty<br />

brought him safely until he came' to the sea and<br />

to the seven seas. Now when he flew through<br />

the air he took with him three eagles and their<br />

young. And after [he had passed] many days,<br />

and seasons, and years [in sailing] over^ the waves<br />

of the sea, he sent forth an eagle which flew up<br />

into the air, and then^ went on towards the sea;<br />

and the eagle found a resting-place and did not,<br />

therefore, return. And the Two-horned said unto<br />

his friends, "Go ye on";* and they journeyed on<br />

for many days. Then he sent forth a second<br />

eagle which flew up into the air, and then went Three ea-<br />

on towards the sea, and it also found a restmg- forth,<br />

place and returned not. And the Two-horned said<br />

unto his friends, "Go ye on"; and they journeyed<br />
