"how much money thou wilt give me, that hence-<br />

"forward I may dwell in thy country and live<br />

"with thee if I make thee master of the Two-<br />

"horned. For I will say unto the Two-horned,<br />

" 'Behold quecu Candace hath come out with great<br />

Ka"n^^ "gifts, and she hath ordered her followers, and,<br />

"behold, these men have come down and have<br />

"drawn nigh unto [thy] army, and are distant but<br />

"one day's journey; come forth then to her with<br />

"a few men that thou mayest see her, for, behold,<br />

"she hath given thee gifts, and wisheth to salute<br />

"thee; and I have taken tribute from them, and<br />

"they have multiplied their offerings unto us as<br />

"thou seest.' And when he shall come forth to<br />

"receive thee [p. iig] thou shalt lay hold upon<br />

"him, for there will be none with him who shall<br />

"make thee afraid, and thou shalt seize him' with<br />

"thy hands and do with him as thou wilt." Now<br />

when Kanir heard his words he let him go free.<br />

Then <strong>Alexander</strong> laying hold of Kanir's hand, said,<br />

"As God Almighty liveth, I will hand over the Two-<br />

"horned one unto thee, and I will deliver him<br />
