Setting general application preferences

In general application preferences, you set options for dragging and
dropping text, displaying template files, and the number of previously
opened files that are listed in the File menu. You can also specify your
user name and network protocol.
Do this To
Select Enable drag and drop
text selection
Use drag and drop to transfer text without using
the Clipboard
Select Show templates in New File dialog Display a list of template files when you start
FileMaker Pro or choose New from the File menu
Select Recently opened files Display recently opened files in the File menu. You
can also select how many files appear in the menu, up
to a maximum of nine files.
For User Name, select Custom, and
then type a name in the text box
Choose a network from the Network
protocol pop-up menu
Specify a custom user name. If you don’t specify a
custom name, FileMaker Pro uses the System user
name from the Chooser or the Sharing Setup
control panel.
Select a network connection. Changes to this setting
don’t take effect until you quit FileMaker Pro, and
then start it again.
Choose FileMaker Help Index from the or Help menu, and then type:
