2006-07 RECAP<br />
Fighting Sioux women’s basketball<br />
fans were treated to one of the finest seasons<br />
in program history in 2006-07, as<br />
U<strong>ND</strong> rolled to a 32-4 overall record, winning<br />
a third straight North Central<br />
Conference title, a seventh straight NCC<br />
Playoff Tournament championship and an<br />
NCAA North Central Region crown along<br />
the way.<br />
U<strong>ND</strong> advanced all the way to the<br />
NCAA Elite Eight Championship in<br />
Kearney, Neb., before falling to Florida<br />
Gulf Coast in the quarterfinals.<br />
However, the season was filled with<br />
highlights:<br />
FINEST FANS A<strong>ND</strong> FACILITY<br />
U<strong>ND</strong> is home to the best fans and best<br />
facility in Division II women’s basketball,<br />
according to the Women’s Basketball<br />
Coaches’ Association (WBCA)<br />
Superlative Awards announced in May.<br />
The Sioux have called the Betty<br />
Engelstad Sioux Center home since the<br />
2004-05 season and are 54-5 (.915) alltime<br />
in the 3,064-seat facility.<br />
U<strong>ND</strong> led the nation in attendance in<br />
2006-07, with a total of 38,912 fans<br />
attended U<strong>ND</strong>’s 19 home games at the<br />
Engelstad Sioux Center, over 3,000 fans<br />
more than any other Division II women’s<br />
basketball program.<br />
The Sioux utilized that home court<br />
advantage to the fullest last season, winning<br />
both an NCC playoff championship<br />
and a North Central region championship<br />
at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.<br />
It marked the third straight season<br />
<strong>Grand</strong> <strong>Forks</strong> was home to both tournaments.<br />
MR. MILESTONE<br />
Gene Roebuck’s 20th season as head<br />
coach of the Fighting Sioux proved to be<br />
highly memorable for several personal<br />
accomplishments.<br />
Roebuck won his 500th game at U<strong>ND</strong><br />
when the Sioux defeated Lock Haven, 77-<br />
60, during the second game of the season.<br />
Roebuck then surpassed the 600-victory<br />
plateau for his career with an 86-59 victory<br />
at Bemidji State.<br />

Roebuck was named a 2007 Russell<br />
Athletic/WBCA Victory Club Award<br />
recipient for his 600th win.<br />
The all-time winningest coach in<br />
NCAA Division II women’s basketball<br />
history with an astonishing .857 winning<br />
percentage, Roebuck capped his season by<br />
nabbing his 10th NCC Coach of the Year<br />
award.<br />
SPECIAL K<br />
Junior forward Kierah Kimbrough<br />
emerged as one of the finest players in the<br />
nation in 2006-07, garnering Daktronics,<br />
Inc., All-America second team honors.<br />

The Greenbush, Minn., native led the<br />
team in scoring (15.7 ppg) and rebounding<br />
(8.6) and captured four consecutive NCC<br />
Player of the Week honors at the outset of<br />
the conference season.<br />
Kimbrough was also recognized for her<br />
play in the Feb. 5 issue of Sports<br />
Illustrated.<br />
WITH HONORS<br />
The Fighting Sioux were once again<br />
well represented when the NCC<br />
announced its annual award winners in<br />
early March.<br />
