SUPPORT STAFF<br />

Quinn Peterson enters his third year as an assistant strength and conditioning<br />

coach at UND after having spent the previous two-and-a-half years as a<br />

graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Kansas State<br />

<strong>University</strong>.<br />

Born and raised in Stromsburg, Neb., Peterson received his bachelor’s degree<br />

in exercise science from the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Nebraska-Omaha in 2004, and<br />

received his master’s degree from Kansas State in 2006.<br />

Peterson is a certified strength coach through the National Strength and<br />

Conditioning Association and Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches<br />

Association. He is also a certified Level I Olympic weightlifting club coach.<br />

Peterson and his wife, Emily, have two daughters, Lilly (3) and Eden (1).<br />

john flatt<br />

assistant athletic trainer<br />

John Flatt enters his first season as an assistant athletic trainer at UND. Flatt<br />

currently handles all athletic training assignments for the baseball and<br />

women’s soccer teams.<br />

Flatt completed a masters <strong>of</strong> science in exercise science at <strong>North</strong> <strong>Dakota</strong><br />

State <strong>University</strong> in December <strong>of</strong> 2007. He spent the previous year as the<br />

head athletic trainer at Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School (Prep) in Bradenton,<br />

Fla.<br />

In May <strong>of</strong> 2003, Flatt graduated from Minnesota Duluth with a bachelor’s<br />

degree <strong>of</strong> applied science in exercise science with a concentration in athletic<br />

training. He was a redshirt freshman on the Bulldogs’ football team before<br />

knee injuries ended his playing career.<br />

Flatt has also spent time as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Concordia<br />

College (2003-05), then served as an assistant director at Concordia from<br />

January 2006 to June 2007. He became the interim head athletic trainer at<br />

the school in Moorhead, Minn., from March 2007 to June 2007.<br />

Flatt’s wife, Shan (Zaffke), is in her second year as a medical student at UND.<br />
