The University of North Dakota will join seven other 

Division I baseball teams in forming the Great West 

Conference in the spring of 2010. The eight-team league 

will begin the weekend of April 9-11, 2010 and compete 

each weekend through May 20-22, culminating with the 

first Great West Championship, May 26-29 at Texas-Pan 

American. 

The remaining seven teams who will play in the Great West besides the Sioux are 

Chicago State, Houston Baptist, New Jersey Tech, New York Tech, Northern Colorado, 

Texas Pan-American and Utah Valley. 

Teams will play four-game series over three days against each conference member, 

providing a 28-game Great West schedule. This will be only the second conference 

that the Fighting Sioux have played baseball in during its history on the diamond. 

UND was a long-standing member of the North Central Conference at the NCAA 

Division II level prior to transitioning to the DI level in 2008-09 school year. 

The Fighting Sioux have a history with two of the Great West baseball members having 

played New Jersey Tech and Northern Colorado in previous seasons.
