B. UNPAID LEAVES<br />
1. Child Care Leave of Absence<br />
An unpaid child care leave of absence for up to one (1) school year may be<br />
granted under the following conditions:<br />
a. The employee will notify the Assistant Superintendent for Human<br />
Resources, in writing, at least two (2) months prior to scheduled delivery<br />
or as soon as possible with an adoption, indicating the approximate<br />
length of leave desired.<br />
b. The employee is required to send notification, in writing, to the Assistant<br />
Superintendent for Human Resources, of the employee’s intentions for<br />
the upcoming school year no later than May 30. Non-submission of a<br />
letter of the employee’s intentions will be admission of their resignation<br />
from the district.<br />
2. Illness/Accident<br />
If an employee has a medical emergency that requires a long period of<br />
recuperation, the employee may request an unpaid leave of absence for up to<br />
one (1) school year. This request must be submitted in writing to the Assistant<br />
Superintendent for Human Resources, accompanied by a physician’s<br />
statement.<br />
The employee is required to notify the Assistant Superintendent for Human<br />
Resources, in writing, prior to May 30, of his/her intentions for the upcoming<br />
school year and must submit a physician’s statement prior to returning to work<br />
verifying the employee is able to return to work and perform his/her duties.<br />
3. Special Leave of Absence<br />
After five (5) years of employment with the District, an employee may request,<br />
in writing to the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources, an unpaid<br />
leave of absence for the remainder of that school year.<br />
The employee is required to notify the Assistant Superintendent for Human<br />
Resources, in writing, of his/her intentions for the upcoming school year no later<br />
than May 30. Non-submission of a letter of the employee’s intentions will be<br />
admission of his/her resignation from the district.<br />
